The missing machine gun that triggered the firing of a security forces chief at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, in May turned up in what’s probably the last place the Air Force wanted it to: stashed in an airman’s home off-base.
Minot officials announced on Wednesday that the machine gun had been recovered by Air Force Office of Special Investigation agents after obtaining a federal search warrant for the unnamed airman’s residence on June 19.
The machine gun was discovered missing during a standard weapons inventory by the 91st Missile Wing security forces on May 16, just about two weeks after airmen with the same unit reportedly lost a box of MK 19 grenades out of the back of a moving vehicle.
Security forces chief Col. Jason Beers was fired on May 23 “due to a loss of trust and confidence after a series of events under the scope of his leadership, including a recent loss of ammunition and weapons,” a 5th Bomb Wing news release said at the time. Beers landed a new job at Air Force Special Operations Command just a few weeks later.
The question remains: Why did this unnamed airman steal an M240 in the first place? Was he just some dumb kid, bored as hell with his posting at Minot and in search of some recreational fun? Or a budding arms trafficker or killer? It’s not clear, but either way, it’s not a great look for anyone involved.
That would be a hell of a way to fight a war. Not sure why the Security Chief was fired. That is the reason Security folks do inventories. But I don’t know the whole story.

They’re firing blanks. That plug in the muzzle is a BFA (Blank Firing Adapter). It is required for both safety and to increase gas pressure to allow the weapon to cycle properly w/blank ammunition.

Are you still in? Have you seen the NEW Electronic REGISTRATION for PHARMACY? We have a small Naval Base in Millington, TN BUPERS, Pharmacy is basically set up for 50 Active Duty coming and going. Friday was day 3 of the NEW ROLL OUT of the Electronic Registration System. 100 people when I went in, about 150 when I left 2 hrs later. Had a needed script to pick up and 1 to turn in. I shot video of it. Total FUBAR. Those who turned in Scripts maybe able to pick them up Mon or Tue. With no resolve to this screw up. Imagine it being Pensacola Pharmacy you’d have 400+ at Pharmacy.
Since the DoD Mandate Tricare Life use Base or Express Scripts, unless it’s a ER script, you now have Seniors, handicapped, not enough electric carts, little handicapped parking, seating for 40 maybe. They were using shopping carts to maintain walk and use for their OXY tanks. Using a Pharmacy designed for Active Duty or spouses.

Likely the only stateside assignment less desireable than Minot.
No name nor photo sounds like how Oakland or ___________ (Fill in the blank) would report something like this.
