Just before the agency announced the outbreak, the Kellogg Co. announced a recall of 15.3-ounce and 23-ounce packages of the cereal with a best if used by date from June 14, 2018, through June 14, 2019, according to a statement.
Twenty-four of the sick patients have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported, according to the CDC. New York has reported the highest number of cases seven while California, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania have each reported five cases. The other states involved in the outbreak have reported between one and four related illnesses.
Health officials have identified Kelloggs Honey Smacks cereal as the likely source of the outbreak, based on epidemiological evidence. As part of the outbreak investigation, 39 of the patients who became ill have been interviewed, and 30 reported eating cold cereal in the week before their symptoms began. Fourteen of them specifically said they ate Honey Smacks.

Butt, butt, butt.....I thought that salmonella was known in the state of California to cause cancer. Drinking out of my garden hose apparently causes it. Good thing I don’t live in Cali.
I liked Honey Smacks, darnit.
They are “out sourced”...probably Mexico.
Sabotage....Pepe the frog set it off.
The name Honey Smacks was chosen after the name Salmonella Smacks was shown to adversely affect sales.
Bad press for Kellogg’s. They are having a hard enough time already, with Millenials drinking far less milk than prior generations. Many of this demograph don’t even want to make a bowl of cereal for their breakfast, preferring instead to buy Sausage & Egg McMuffins or granola bars when they chose to.
I haven’t heard any references to Pepe the Frog since 2016.
People still purchase that Kelloggs poison?
Ya have now.
They could recover by changing back to the real name, Sugar Smacks.
Sugar coated sugar lumps...Gak
And they wonder why half the country has blood sugar issues..
Ah yes, I remember when Honey Smacks were called Sugar Smacks.
And Corn Pops were called Sugar Pops.
And Frosted Flakes were called Sugar Frosted Flakes.
The Smackin’ Brothers are runners up for commercials that are politically incorrect today.
You want a Politically Incorrect Breakfast Commercial....

I haven’t bought Kellogg’s product in two years. When they started boycotting conservative media figures, I started a boycott of Kellogg’s. A pox on this company. Salmonella-causing cereal is a perfect metaphor of their slow demise.
I love them also, but have you noticed they changed the recipe or something within the last two years? They just don’t taste like they used too.
Er, “Organic” Sugar Smacks.
