I was banned in 2016 when many Never Trumpers fell by the wayside. But, while I supported Trump once Walker was out of the race, I was criticizing FreeRepublic itself, usually by contrasting the halcyon days. Jim swung the ax, not any of the minions.
I did not beg forgiveness, or make any attempt to rejoin by any means including trying a new account. After two years of lurking, I hit the donate button one day, by mistake. I pledged a $3 donation (the minimum donation) by check and commented that I would become a monthly donor once again, but since I was banned, I was not motivated to do so. My account was restored almost immediately, before I had mailed my check or signed up as a monthly donor.
I have posting privileges, I am a monthly donor, and I sent my $3 check. All is well. I still miss the old days, especially the paragraph + length posts by real experts. But that’s become the entire internet these days, so we just have to live with it.
There’s no telling what might get you “banned.” I’m convinced it’s a situation that Midol and Premarin might help unsuspecting Freepers avoid. IMHO.
And their donations.
Have had one account since 99 or 00, started following FR during the Clinton/Lewinski era probably close to the beginning of FR. I have never posted much so there was never much that I could get banned for. Lot of good posters have come and gone over the years. Always enjoyed Mia T’s posts but they were so graphic heavy, I imagine it was hell on bandwidth. Heard that she was banned but never knew why.
Off topic, but I gotta tell ya; I would not want to be in any group called the 1 inch group.
There used to be a rather odd poster named something like A+Bert. He was banned, wonder if he came back with a new name?
Never got zotted but came close. I simply have lurked for years now.
I have never had more than one account though.
I think ol’ A+ was about at the end of the x/y graph of senility and blood alcohol content. He probably could barely sign on at the time he was zotted.
There were a lot of dust ups in the 90s.
