Japan has treatment centers for internet gaming addiction.

In my day, we had board games that were lots of fun but these games had an ENDING!

Today’s internet games DO NOT END! They go on forever!

Say what? At the end, the tech writer lays it on the parents. There is truth to this—but happily the parents of the girl in the main story caught on and got help. But let’s not pretend that computer gaming addiction is not real. What I want is informed consumers—who understand the potential risks.

Disney through EA games released a star wars game called Battlefront 2 where after shelling out the 70 plus dollars for the disk the game encouraged kids to gamble using mom’s credit card.
5 dollars to spin the wheel and if you win you get a cool new outfit to wear or a useless rifle scope etc.
If you lose....oh well plug in mom’s CC for another spin at the wheel.
Disney encouraging gambling in video games....
i think the Netherlands and a few other European countries have filed law suits against disney and EA for corrupting children.
After the massive public backlash EA removed the gambling out of the game....game sales are way down.

Regarding these “FREE” games i know a guy who has told me he has spent over a thousand dollars on virtual golf clubs in order to compete in his “free” golf game.

idiot...

Addiction to these games (all kinds) is fairly common. It happens in the service and you have folks getting booted with an OTH because of it.

People lose their jobs over it and kids have dropped out of school because of it. I would say it's similar to a drug because it provides a stimulate to the mind which causes a euphoric feeling of ups and downs. Thats just my observations.

"Synopsis

One day, 98% of Earth's human population suddenly disappeared, and the remaining humans found the skies covered in dense clouds, creating chaotic storms that dropped husks, humanoid zombie-like creatures, that attacked the living.

The survivors found ways to construct "storm shields", a field that cleared the storm clouds from immediately overhead and reduced the attacks from husks, and used these to set up survivor bases across the globe.

The player is a commander of one of these bases, charged with going out of the storm shield to find resources, survivors, and other allies to help expand their storm shield and find a way to return Earth to its normal state."

Didn't Trump just do this against Husk Hussein?

“...the girl reportedly hit her father in the face.”

At nine years old? At any age you do that my dad, you’d must have a death wish. “Spoil the rod...”

Pulling the plug and throwing the Xbox away wouldn't work because .... ?

Because parents would probably be brought up on charges for cruelty in todays world.

My brother played Donkey Kong and Mario Brothers daily on a Nintendo until he fell asleep. I can’t stand the games. He is now a very successful Engineer.

Nine-year-old girl placed into rehab for her Fortnite addiction

It has become obvious for many years now, that the permissive attitude towards totally incompetent parenting is imposing too great a financial burden on society in many forms, that a license parenting may be the answer.

Also the reduction or curtailment of public welfare assistance should be made mandatory.

So, homosexuality is no longer defined as a mental illness. Playing video games for x amount of time, however, is?

Yeah, whatever. The kid in question here though, obviously had more problems than ‘addiction’ to playing. It sounds like they were spoiled and didn’t care about their schooling. The parent’s failed again and can’t control her... so they stick the government or private medical facility with helping her.
