Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Danny Kirwan has died in London aged 68.

Kirwan was described as a "huge force" in Fleetwood Mac's early years, penning some of their lesser-known songs and contributing vocals.

As a teenager, Kirwan's band Boilerhouse supported Fleetwood Mac at venues in London before he was invited to join the group itself in 1968.

His work was featured on five of the band's albums released between 1969 and 1972.

He passed away on 8 June according to a post on the band's official Facebook page by drummer Mick Fleetwood.

Our cat Devin, is 20+ years old and stopped grooming himself years ago. He looks like he should be dead so we’ve taken to calling him Keith Richards.

I found early Fleetwood Mac later in life after reading Fleetwood’s biography and was amazed by the music.

Hi. I’m Keith Richards. I’ve done more drugs, alcohol and cigarettes than half the planet. Combined.

Check this out Mick. I outlived Kirwan, and he was only 68.

Hey Mick, do you think I’ll live forever?

I love Stevie.

Her best song, in its purest form, was rarely ever heard.

Sad news. 68 is way too young.

RIP Danny.

Joe Bonamassa has done it. Hardest working guitar player there is. Doesn’t really drink or do drugs and has a private lifestyle.....and rakes in the bucks. Sells out almost every concert.
Jimmy Buffett more or less does it too. And is richer than rich between his concerts, retail which includes liquor, and even a Broadway show.

“Her best song, in its purest form, was rarely ever heard.”

Thank Heaven for small favors. FM didn’t do anything worth listening to after Kiln House.

The point was, however, the person has to personify an image. If it were the mere music without that, we would see a different story.

Agree completely! To me, FM was a completely different, and uninteresting, band, once B/N joined.

How many people today know that Black Magic Woman is a FM song?

Or by “whiny chick” did you mean Christine? If so, not quite sure I agree.

I’ve read the only way Stevie Nick’s got in was Lindsey Buckingham an says unless you take her you don’t get me.

I my opinion without Christie McVee they wouldn’t be worth listening to.

I’m too young to remember Fleetwood Mac without Buckingham/Nicks but, thanks to Spotify, have recently discovered several of their songs. I admit, I really like them.

My favorite Danny Kirwan song is “Dust”.

Ok, really?

If y’all can watch her Rhiannon of ‘76 and Angel of ‘79 and still not think she’s any good, something is wrong.

Hmmm, always think of Peter Green as the early FM guitarist and founder

I have hated both those songs since I first heard them. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, is guauranteed to get me to hit the Skip button faster. Her voice is like Satan’s nails on a chalkboard in Hell to me.

But, to each their own. As long as you don’t make me listen to it.

Best,

L

The original “Planets of the Universe,” with just Stevie on piano.

And the planets of the universe go their way
Not astounded by the sun or the moon, or by the day
You and I will simply disappear out of sight
But I’m afraid soon there’ll be no light

I will never love again the way I loved you
You will never rule again the way you’ve ruled
We will never change again the way we are changing
Oh, you’ll forget the chill of love but not the strain
Oh, you’ll forget the chill of love but not the strain

You will remember but I will die slowly
It’s only an overture to something that was best
And don’t, don’t condescend me
Take your leave
Take your leave
Take your leave of me now
Disappear through the year
I wish you gone and I don’t care

Now I know
Well, I was wrong
To live for a dream
If I had my life to live over
I would never dream, no
I still wish you gone
And I will live alone
Yes, I will live alone

I still wish you gone,
And I don’t care....
