NEW ORLEANS - A Virginia man wolfed down 40 dozen oysters in eight minutes Sunday to win the World Oyster Eating Championship at the New Orleans Oyster Festival, the Times-Picayune reported.
Darron Breeden of Orange, Virginia, topped a field of seven contestants who participated in the annual contest, which is held in a park between the French Quarter and the Mississippi River.

Re Post 10:
I was a contestant in a Guiness World record boiled shrimp eating contest in Houston in the 1970s. The Guiness record then was 5 pounds, but I dont remember the time limit. I ate 4 pounds and 15 ounces, but I unknowingly slowed myself down while doing it because I was drinking beer and eating hush puppies at the same time.
Wow! You were a contender! Did you ever decide to train up for a second attempt?

You know Boudreaux tole Thibideaux that he thought he got some bad oysters last night.
Yeah, he hears oysters were an aphrodesiac, so he ordered 2 dozen and only half of them worked.

Quit abusing the news forum.

She's not a cheap date I imagine.
She can eat six burritos in 12 minutes, 22 Big Macs in less than an hour and a fried breakfast including 20 large eggs, a kilogram of bacon, six sausages, four muffins, mushrooms and tomato chutney, in 42 minutes.

I really like oysters. Raw, on the half-shell.
The only reason I don't eat more is because they are so expensive. Also, I would never eat 40 dozen in one sitting. Two dozen are about enough for me. But I savor them. Might take me a full hour to eat two dozen oysters. Washed down with a nice Belgium ale.
