Interesting that all of the original Stones are still around, except for the one that died almost 50 years ago.

Far too many to mention. But probably my favorite Stones album is Let It Bleed.

“except for the one that died almost 50 years ago.”
Brian Jones. Drowned, but probably drug casualty.

Mick did his share of drugs in the 60s, but he’s pretty much been a health nut since the 70s.

Charlie Watts is in some ways the most interesting of the Stones. His real interest is jazz, and IIRC he took the Stones gig just because he needed to pay some bills. That probably worked out better than he expected. You may notice that he’s a dapper dresser unlike the others.

Charlie looks like Jeff Sessions' hapless twin brother.

BTW, Charlie Watts is a vastly underrated drummer. He doesn’t get a lot of credit because he kept it simple and always looked bored. But his playing was always perfect for each song. How many drummers, aside from studio pros, played on that may hits?

I recall a story about Mick and the boys getting some sort of major blood transfusions as a way to kick heroin. Dunno if it’s true but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Yep, Watts and Ringo, are both that way, they play in the pocket and play just what the song demands.

It has always seemed to me that rock musicians who don’t die early from overdoses look better than average for their age. Maybe the touring keeps them fit (mentally and physically), and the ones at the top probably eat the best and healthiest food.

And say what you will, Keith is as sharp as a tack when you interview him. I highly recommend his autobiography, “Life”.

And I still say, Keith is a choir-boy compared to Ginger Baker, now he is the real miracle.

The Stones were amazing up through Sticky Fingers. After that 99.9% of the stuff they did was boring and predictable...if not worse.
Rock & Roll is meant to be performed by the young...not by those wearing Depends.

But probably my favorite Stones album is Let It Bleed. The first time I heard Gimme Shelter was during BCT in December '69 on a Saturday night in the PX.
To call it a spooky experience would be a massive understatement.Every time i hear it I'm right back in that smoke filled PX.
If you've never heard the vocal track separated from instrumentals it's on youtube.Amazing!

Old Jonny Carson joke:
Did you hear about the concert fan who ran up on stage at the Stones concert and started hitting Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts with a rubber chicken? (Pause) He said he was trying to kill two Stones with one bird ...
