My wife saw Pat Bucahanan's recent book on Nixon for sale at Dollar Tree in hardback for $1. If you like Buchanan as an author, or respect him as an authority on Nixon, that's a hard bargain to pass up.
Agree. And Buchanan was as much a politician as Trump was before being elected.
“What share of that dollar does Pat earn?” That is a very good question. Here’s the answer: He gets the percentage agreed upon in his contract regardless of what the actual selling price is. So lets say it is 10% - and please don’t think it is much more- if it sells for $10 Pat gets 1 dollar. If it sells for $1.00 Pat gets .10 cents. This is the kind of stuff that fuels the self publishing market. I had a chance to go with a publisher for a similar deal ( unknown authors are often offered 5%). I declined and self published. After expenses I made a clear 35%.

I agree with you entirely. When he wrote that, I stopped paying attention to anything Pat said.
