Parents win suit to kick 30-year-old deadbeat son out of their house

An upstate couple got so fed up with their unemployed 30-year-old son’s refusal to leave the nest that they finally sued to evict him — and won.

Mark and Christina Rotondo were forced to the extreme-parenting measure after giving their layabout millennial boy Michael cash for moving expenses, pleading with him to get on with his life and finally sending written legal notices demanding he grow up and move out.

“Michael, After a discussion with your Mother, we have decided that you must leave this house immediately,” reads the first letter, dated Feb. 2.

It concludes: “You have 14 days to vacate. . . We will take whatever actions are necessary to enforce this decision.”

They later offered him $1,100 to “find a place to stay” and gave him parental advice including, “organize the things you need for work and to manage an apartment” and “sell the other things you have that have any significant value.”

Asked if he thought mom and dad were merely trying some tough love, Michael sounded like a child who’d just been punished.

“I don’t think trying to destroy somebody is tough love,” he griped...

Alas, my parents never loved me enough to buy me $1500 worth of pot plants.

If they did, my life would be a lot different.

A LOT.

LOL, I guess no argument needed...he WANTS.

I would be embarrassed to suck on my momma’s teat after I had grown as big and tall as that guy, but he must be a Bernie Sanders supporter.

After I got out of the USN, I lived with my parents until I was around 26, but...I was going to college during that time. They told me I didn’t have to pay room and board as long as I was going to college, and I thought that was very, very generous. My parents were very good to me.

I have something similar in my family. My sis married a a dude here on a visa. He kept saying that he’ll get a job when he gets his green card. Green card arrives - no job. He doesn’t do anything in the apt, no cleaning, no cooking, no shopping. He stays at home all day and is on his very expensive computer. When my sis is sick, she’s on her own, he doesn’t help her get well. She says it’s not his place to do that. He’s got her brainwashed. They live in a $4K apartment and pay no rent. Meanwhile, I just found out my sis who took over my mother’s finances, has been embezzling and is deeply in debt... yet has multiple CDs and loans. It’s insane.

Recently driving back home from visiting mom, I heard a show on coast to coast about narcisistic predators. The guy described my sis and her husband to a T. Parasites. Now I understand why I ran away from home.

My mom and I are considering going to family court to have them evicted. Thus I am very happy that this couple won. My heart goes out to them for all they’ve been through.

LOL! She probably wanted to - not sure if her Ambulance-Chasing Lawyer wanted to take that on, though! ;)

The parents raised a load of a human. If his name is not attached to the house in anyway why not just call 911 and say he is trespassing and the want him off the property.

Kids fall on hard times, parents try to help, give them some time to recover, the kids get lazy and repay the parents with becoming derelicts.

We have a little of the ‘old country’ (Italy) in us where the extended family is still somewhat normative. However, the ethic always was that you carry your weight and support the household and eventually get married and have your own family. If you didn’t, peer pressure from the many siblings and cousins (in the old days) would drive you to taking some action. I’ve heard, though, that even in Italy, this has become a problem.

Going back 15 years, we had a Priest tell us we had done enough - it was time to evict them. Didn’t need court help, though.

Every now and then when medical bills pile up, we throw some help their way. It’s not our money after all, it’s a gift from the very good Lord.

I have told all three of my kids, “We love you! We miss you so much. If I buy a killer video gaming system for you, won’t you move back home and just be with us? Lots of people do it.” They just smile, like it is a joke, and go on with their responsible lives.

My daughter said, “I can’t do that until I’m 30, Daddy!”

Not that easy.
My B-i-L attacked my mom. I called the cops. They said they can’t do anything because he’s family. He has the right to come into my mom’s apt anytime he wants. I changed the locks to my mom’s apt. My sis is now mad that the has to make an appointment to see my mom.

If it’s at the point where they need to leave and won’t, why not call the cops for trespassing? Weak.

Put his stuff on the curb, change the locks and have him arrested for trespassing.

Yeah I moved here 6 years ago too. I’m a transplant from CT but I grew up on the other side of PA.

No pennsylvanians live in NEPA.

Guy is a freak.
During a interview outside of court the hippie couldn’t stop stroking, flinging, playing with his long hair, could tell the idiot must be a NIGHTMARE to the parents.

That is all eerily reminiscent of Bernie Sanders’ early life story.

I have relatives who have some of their kids who are 30+ living at home. They really need to have them live by themselves. You do not grow as a person if you are still at home. I do not know how they explain to some women or man they want to date where they live.
