Chrysler built great engines and transmissions. Their bodies, while sylish had a tendency to stretch the sheet metal in difficult places that made them prone to rusting.

Once Diamler entered the picture, it was over for Chrysler (at least for me). Not sure how well the Fiat’s do. Time will tell.

At least as far as styling is concerned, IMO, it's been over for most cars since around the early 80s, the 2000s retro Mustangs being about the only exception. Challengers not too bad either. They're a bit too 'stocky', though. The original (on right) was more sleek and thin. Liked it much better.

Diamler did more to save Chrysler’s butt than any other merger or acquisition.

Their current collaboration with Fiat is what is a true pity, a true shame.

"prone to rusting"

Yep. My first car was a '66 Charger, Petty blue with a 383. Bought in in 1970, and got a few wonderful years out of it until it died from Mopar unibody rust rot.

Sold the engine to a guy who put it in a Chris-Craft, and for all I know it's still running, it was that strong.
