Unattractive? How about the 62 Plymouth 413 cars that ran as A/S-A/SA cars. They were so ugly they were beautiful.

I discovered a drag strip in Pa. called Beaver Spring that is 2 1/2 hours from my home in N.J. They have a show called the Ford FE reunion so being a 60s race car guy I went. It was great. There were probably 125-150 390-406-427-428CJ cars and around the same number of show cars. You can googoo the track and get the video. If you love muscle cars just turn up the sound and enjoy. Thanks.

After '72, that quality began to fade Agreed, seems like 73/74 was when all of the majors started to go downhill.

Hate to admit it, but yes I can remember riding in my father’s “DeSoto - 4-Door, Brown” very ugly. But my dad scored on it, because the transmission was shot, and his friend fixed it for him. Three-speed manual, column shift-a.k.a. 3-on-the-tree.

They were so ugly they were beautiful.Or they were so ugly that they were ugly. Matter of taste.
It seems to me that Chrysler, throughout its history, has either not tried hard enough or tried too hard in its styling. It just never seemed to get it right. IMO, Chrysler should have stolen some stylists from GM and stayed out of their way.

Mopars do fetch a higher price these days. No explanation except general mob insanity. Blame it on T.V.- graveyard cars? chargers were road pigs, sloppy in corners, too much oomph and not enough stop.. maybe I'm old, but I don't drive my car for the thrill of dancing with death on the roadway.. lol. keep your Charger, sell me a t-bucket or a 34 ford chopped and slammed... powered by a small block chevy ...

I’ve told this story a few times here.
My brother returned from Vietnam in 68. We lived in Vallejo, California and was home for a few weeks before having to report to Ft. Rucker, Alabama. He went to buy himself a new car and came home with 68 Superbee with a 383 hipro and 4 speed. It was unbelievably fast.
Shortly after arriving to Ft. Rucker he went to tune it up and bought points, plugs and new wires from the local gas station. He pulled the first plug and noticed it was different than the plugs he had just bought. So he went back to the station and the guy showed him book and those plugs were for 383 hipro. So he returned them and went to the dealer, who tried to sell him the same plugs. So they took his VIN # and told him they would figure out what was going on.
It turned out that he had bought 1 of 7 special engine cars that Dodge had made. Then he recieved a letter from Dodge offering to reimburse him for all expenses if he chose to race it. He never did and then got married and had kids. He eventually sold it...

Most performance cars today look like they were doodled by a fourth grader who just came out of a ten hour Transformers movie marathon.

Yep. My first car was a '66 Charger, Petty blue with a 383. Bought in in 1970, and got a few wonderful years out of it until it died from Mopar unibody rust rot.
Sold the engine to a guy who put it in a Chris-Craft, and for all I know it's still running, it was that strong.
