ALVORD, Texas — An elementary school principal in North Texas is discontinuing her tradition of “birthday spankings” to students after parents complained.

KTVT-TV reports that Alvord Independent School District Superintendent Randy Brown released a Tuesday statement announcing an end to the spankings at Alvord Elementary School. Brown says the district received two complaints about Principal Bridget Williams’ tradition.

I have never understood this “tradition.” Seems pretty creepy to me.

Does she still give them to her husband?

What an idiot.

She better not lay a finger on any of the kids on any occasion.

Alvord is a small town in Wise County, Texas.

US 287 takes you by it with out seeing a town.

The objections to Birthday spankings is from new commers that build monter houses in the woods and drive 287 to work at FedEx,Amazon and companies at Aliance Airprt

If you snap your fingers, those old bra snaps just upened up! Did it for my ex, who didn’t believe it would work, When they popped out, she called her sister. Best night ever!

People in power mistake abuse for comraderie & friendliness. Power is generally a one way. Better to respect boundaries.

When our rural school paired with a couple of other rural schools, we discovered that we were the only one that didn’t have a “spanking gauntlet” on birthdays at school. Other schools had kids (elementary) line up in two rows and the birthday kid would run in between them and get lots of spanks.

We thought it was bizarre and they were all baffled that we didn’t do that. An old tradition, I guess.

Sounds like you have a perverse notion of sexuality.

My PE teacher did that in elementary school. I was so lucky to have a summer birthday. :D

It’s a PUBLIC SCHOOL. Parents need to suck it up and take what’s given to them for what they pay, which is nothing.

I think it sounds like an innocuous small town tradition that probably some liberal had to ruin. Everybody must be as miserable as they are, or else.

“The objections to Birthday spankings is from new comers that build monster houses in the woods and drive 287 to work at FedEx,Amazon and companies at Alliance Airport “

You got that right. And this is EXACTLY what Texas needs to be careful about with all the outsiders pouring in. They claim they hate what California became...and then they start down that same road.

That’s what it sounds like to me too. It’s grade school for
pete’s sake. Probably a fun tradition that some sick individual decided to sexualize.

It sure as hell isn’t nothing On Long Island, New York.

My cousin and her husband received high pay with great benefits, and the summers off when they were teachers.

When they retired, my cousin, a former elementary school teacher and her husband, a former high school teacher, started to receive a pension of $8.000 per month each.

That came out wrong. What I was trying to say is that the PARENTS pay nothing for the schools. Sure, they pay taxes to government entities...but they normally do not pay anything DIRECTLY to the schools - so the schools don’t answer to the parents, and why should they - the schools will answer to the people who write the checks to them, which are the POLITICIANS.

Did a job at one of these big houses in the woods. The lady asked: you doing this yourself?

Me: One riot, one ranger.

She blew up: What does that mean?

*It is a Texas expression. Means one man job.

She was not from here.
