Most people infected with yellow fever will get symptoms so minor they won’t realize they have been infected.
Even for those who do notice, the symptoms such as fever, chills and headaches don’t make it stand out from many other illnesses.
( Additional information and infectious history available at the news website).

But for about 15 percent of the infected, the initial symptoms pass and then come back with a vengeance within a day,
causing internal bleeding and jaundice — the yellowing of the skin that gives the fever its name — the failure of the liver and other organs.
Of those, up to half die, usually within a week or two.

South Florida is susceptible to such diseases not only because of its climate and mosquitoes, but also because it is a major hub
attracting visitors from throughout the Americas for education, tourism, business and commerce.

Because the United States doesn’t require people arriving from abroad to be vaccinated against the disease,
Infected travelers arriving in South Florida could be bitten by mosquitoes here, which could then spread the disease through bites to other people.

Mosquito control necessary for Zika and now possible Yellow Fever.

Of concern are infected travelers who might bring in a Yellow Fever outbreak, especially prevalent in Brazil, and could spread to other areas.

South Florida is susceptible to such diseases because DDT was banned based on emotion, not scientific evidence.

Tell the environmentalists to go fly a kite, bring back DDT and actually control the mosquitoes.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If I remember correctly from historic accounts the symptoms also include “coffee ground” vomit. I think it is the Jacksonville cemetery that has a section of yellow fever graves.

Here’s an idea: CLOSE THE FECKING BORDERS, by Land, Air and Sea! From this MINUTE forward, NO ONE COMES IN! NO ONE! If we need to meet with dignitaries from foreign lands, it’s done over Skype!

Why is Mother Government Hellbent on killing innocent Taxpayers via Third world Disease and Pestilence?

Huh? Huh? Ask Her that! If Taxpayers are dead, She’ll be next!

If anyone needs me I’ll be in my, ‘Bubble Boy’ Bunker packing shotgun shells and freebasing antibiotics...

From CDC. Vast majority of cases in the US are travel-related. Still out of the shitholes and you will be fine. “The yellow fever virus is found in tropical and subtropical areas of Africa and South America. The virus is spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito. Yellow fever is a very rare cause of illness in U.S. travelers. Illness ranges from a fever with aches and pains to severe liver disease with bleeding and yellowing skin (jaundice). Yellow fever infection is diagnosed based on laboratory testing, a person’s symptoms, and travel history. There is no medicine to treat or cure infection. To prevent getting sick from yellow fever, use insect repellent, wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants, and get vaccinated.”
