So, if I understand your point of view, it is that Mueller is investigating Obama, and this investigation is part of what is redacted in Rosenstein's scope memo, and Obama is also within the "investigating the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and that includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government" scope that Comey described.

And since this investigation into Obama is currently hidden from public view, it is also the reason that the DOJ is resisting providing an unredacted scope memo to Congress.

I don't mean to limit that analysis to Obama. I used a specific name becuase it is easier toread and I think easier to describe how I see your point of view. You could substitute another name in there if you want. You offered Clinton and McCain as well.

If we have a difference of opinion on the wisdom of public disclosure, it's because you think Obama (or Clinton) is a taget, and I don't think that. I am convinced, totally, that the only targets is Rosentein's scope memo are Trump and his associates.

And get this by Comey - who said Trump was not under investigation ...

This store is referred to as the ‘Apple Security Headquarters’ in China, HK SAR. This security attribute may be significant.

No, the anons have it completely WRONG again. Hong Kong is still technically NOT part of China for economic trade. China, although in possession of Hong Kong, requires internal passports to travel to and from Hong Kong, and also internal customs. The Apple Hong Kong store is NOT "Apple Security Headquarters" in China because it is NOT in China. This is some Anon's pipe-dream. Ergo, it has little to no significance.

Apple has management headquarters for China in major cities actually IN China where their products ARE assembled, not in Hong Kong, where they merely retail their products.

There is NO NEED to ship any Apple products to China, except the Apple Mac Pro and certain models of iMac, because most Apple products are assembled IN China, just a short plane ride from Hong Kong. It makes ZERO sense to ship to the US and then back to Hong Kong.

1. “Apple’s decision to let China hold the keys to the iCloud”, is this a threat to National Security?

Sigh. Apple is NOT letting China hold all the keys to the iCloud. That is a complete mischaracterization of what occurred.

• First of all, Hostage, the keys in question have NOTHING to do with anything except the iCloud IN CHINA, which Chinese law requires be served by Chinese Servers.
• Secondly, Chinese LAW also requires the encryption keys for the user data stored on that server MUST be kept within the borders of China, nowhere else, so that it us under the jurisdiction of Chinese law.
• Thirdly, Apple has RETAINED those keys in its Chinese offices and, when they receive the equivalent of a properly executed court order, will unlock the appropriate encrypted records and hand them over to the Chinese authorities.
• Finally, such an arrangement has no affect on US National Security as US citizens' data is held in the United States, as is the key to Apple's US iCloud.

"Sensitive to the political climate, Apple last year said its Chinese servers do not include backdoors and that it (Apple) would be in control of iCloud keys, not GCBD. That might not matter, however, as those keys will be subject to the Chinese legal system . . . 2. A Reuters story broke in Feb 2018 San Francisco/Beijing “Apple moves to store iCloud Keys in China, raising human rights fears”; what does this mean for the United States? Why would Apple o this? Answer: access to China’s markets. The Chinese want to prohibit or spy behind any VPNs that people create for privacy. The deal is that Apple gets high profits via further penetration into China’s markets; the iPhone X was a flop in the US, but the Chinese love them. Chinese government will subsidize iPhone sales if Apple gives them the spying capability on their own people. But can they spy on others as well? Now Apple had a blowout quarter in sales just recently.

That implied claim that Apple moved all iCloud keys to China is a complete fabrication of the anti-Apple Mainstream Press. . . as is the claim that Apple's iPhone X is a "flop." The iPhone X was the number one selling phone model in the US as well as in China and many other areas of the world. 82% of teens are using iPhones and 84% intend to buy one.

The claim that Apple sold out the iCloud keys to gain new market in China is also a lie. Apple ALREADY HAD complete access to China's markets. There was no need to get "further penetration into China’s markets" when Apple already had it. That is a completely ridiculous claim. This Key idiocy came up in February but the Apple iPhone X had already become the number one selling phone in China in the last quarter of 2017, long before the key issue.

Flop? Apple just turned in the best 1st calendar quarter of any company in BUSINESS HISTORY. . . and that included the best sales of iPhones in the US, of which the iPhone X was the best seller. It also was the best selling phone in China, Japan, the UK, and Europe. . . even though it had a starting price of $999. Why? Because it's not really a phone but a pocket computer that has a phone attached. As I pointed out, the X was already the best selling phone in China BEFORE this idiotic Key thing was ever brought up.

Apple is merely OBEYING THE LAW AS WRITTEN IN CHINA, which was PASSED at the end of 2016!

It said that while the company’s values don’t change in different parts of the world, it is subject to each country’s laws.

5. Now back to item 1 above on this list. How would one move the ‘keys’ to the iCloud to China? It is moved by server equipment. On the photo showing the pallets, an observation is made that the company name on the pallets if CHEP which is a known maker of very high-quality pallets for transporting technology and electronic equipment. The company CHEP was formed from the military for military services. They are a big provider of military-grade pallets.

No, Hostage. One would NOT move the encryption keys, actually the Chinese iCloud encryption KEYS, by moving a server. It certainly would not require a pallet to move it or them, assuming that Apple might have more than one key for China's iCloud.

One can carry the encryption keys in one's pocket on a FLASH drive. Apple uses 256 bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for the iCloud storage. It requires a complex key. Here is a sample of such an encryption key with a smaller number of bits:

Obviously, one would not want to send it by email to China, but one could hand carry it written down on an Irish lottery ticket and just happen to drop to an Apple employee in a Chinese restaurant. There, delivered. See? No server or pallet required. . . but Key delivered.

Or, you can send it in the clear by merely breaking it into pieces and posting the pieces in places only you and your recipient know where to look for them. . . and in which order to reconstruct the pieces. Say, on facebook kitten photos. The keys still get transmitted.

APPLE SOLD THE KEYS TO THE ICLOUD TO CHINA FOR PROFIT!

You really don't have a clue what you are talking about. Hostage.

I again ask you do you know anything at all about Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 and the draconian penalties and fines that redound against officers and managers who would DO what you just described? Try $20 million in personal fines and 20 years in prison. . . but you've built your house of cards on something that simply DID NOT HAPPEN!

An international business such as Apple is REQUIRED to obey the laws of the nations in which they do business. That is what Apple is doing. They did not hand over the keys to even the Chinese iCloud to the Chinese government. What Apple did do was to follow Chinese national law and bring the keys to the Chinese iCloud, and only the Chinese Users' iCloud, within the borders and jurisdiction of the Chinese legal system. That is ALL that happened. . . and it was under the requirements of the Chinese law. Nobody sold out anyone. Further, Chinese customers' data was only shifted over to the Chinese servers when they agreed to the new user agreement. It is reported that 99.9% of Chinese Apple users have done so (of course, it IS China).

EVERY Smartphone manufacturer who provides such services in China had to do the SAME EXACT THING AS APPLE.

Microsoft gave the Chinese government the entire source code to Windows and Microsoft Office. Apple refused to give them the source code to OSX and iOS. How does THAT strike you?

Trump and Apple are working together on something. I have not a clue what.
