Instead of spreading school spirit a mascot has caused some controversy on a local college campus. As CBSLA's Jo Kwon tells us, administrators at Cal State Long Beach are now taking action.

So SOME people want to get rid of Prospector Pete. I really hate these people.

The good news is that the video at the link shows that not everyone agrees with getting rid of Pete and I would say most don't care. It's those noisy ones that always get themselves involved with the student government that worry about such trivial things. They need to get a real life to go with their liberal arts useless degrees.

The athletic department is doing its best to rid itself of the 49er nickname and Prospector Pete.

If you go inside the Walter Pyramid there is not one reference to the 49ers or Prospector Pete. But quite a few references to The Beach.

There is no photos of Prospector Pete in the cheerleader link either.

I am more POed over the contract extension coach Dan Monson got. Five years of accomplishing nothing would normally get a coach fired. At Long Beach State you get a five year extension.
