Over the past decade, more than 3.5 million Americans have left high-tax blue states like California, New York, and many others in the Northeast, for low-tax red states like Arizona, Florida, and Texas.
While the migration has been happening for years, conservative economists Arthur Laffer and Stephen Moore are forecasting the next significant movement out of blue states could be right around the corner.
Earlier this week, in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal titled So Long, California. Sayonara, New York, Laffer and Moore spoke about a provision within the brand-new tax bill that could create a mass migration of roughly 800,000 people fleeing their estates in California and New York for better days in low-tax states over the next three or so years.
Both authors said capping the deduction for state and local taxes (SALT) to $10,000 will accelerate the velocity of the migration of high-income earners from the Northeast and California to regions like Arizona, Nevada, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.
High earners in places with hefty income taxes not just California and New York, but also Minnesota and New Jersey will bear more of the true cost of their state government.
Also in big trouble are Connecticut and Illinois, where the overall state and local tax burden (especially property taxes) is so onerous that high-income residents will feel the burn now that they cant deduct these costs on their federal returns. On the other side are nine states including Florida, Nevada, Texas and Washingtonthat impose no tax at all on earned income.

And those are just the ones from Honduras.
And thus, states like FL,NC,GA and AZ are doomed.
Sounds horrific. Give me some examples of what they did to your neighborhood. Thanks.
They’re domestic “refugees”. They’re fleeing tyranny and “legalized theft” (outrageous taxes) brought on by insanity caused by the mental disease known as liberalism. I can’t say as I blame em, but the problem is many of em bring the same insane “progressive” ideas and politics with them only to infect once decent areas with the same cancer that they just fled from. They are like the cancer they’re fleeing. Maybe they should be forced to stay and suffer the dire consequences of that which they brought upon themselves. Sometimes, the toughest lessons in life are the best ones.
Im conservative and will never change. The way I see this migration is bad for consevative states. The reasons for this migration is mostly economics, not ideologies. Those who move to Texas from ca might be conservative for a couple of years. After that they will turn liberal and change state
Conservatives are not good defending teriterory. If you look at nation in 50 years time span, you can see its been moving to liberal. Its sad situation
It was do bad it was lawsuit material .
The CA was caught off guard .
I hate liberals. They just bring misery to America. They are the worst enemy America has ever seen because they will succeed where others have failed (without firing a shot...for now).
Sadly , I see plenty of Dem boomer zombies flooding in here .
I see more and more VA and Maryland Dem retired federal blood suckers .
These blood suckers will destroy FL .

And an anti-aircraft battery.
They voted in democrats.
Would love to have the conservatives come to my area, all we got was a bunch of liberals.
“...and Washingtonthat impose no tax at all on earned income.
No, we don’t have an income tax but the filthy one-party (D) state government never stops looking for yet another tax to pick our pockets. I’m still trying to figure how I can afford to get the he11 out of here.
Stay the hell out and keep your NY/CA ‘values’ where they are. You shat the bed, you sleep in it.
We stay and fight here in NJ - and were outvoted so a guy who pledged to raise MORE taxes would win the governorship. If employers are fleeing, productive people have little choice but to follow them - if the companies moves to TX, then they may have to follow it to keep themselves employed. As companies flee the NYC metro area, the jobs that are left are primarily McJobs - as well as government jobs.
Go to youtube and look for the Candid Camera episode where the cop tells people Texas is closed. That's what you can expect.
to be replaced by millions of illegals - or so goes the demoncrap plan.
They sure as hell won’t be moving to Maryland where most of the millionaires have already moved out .
The states answer ,,, tax the middle class more .
“We dont have an income tax but the filthy one-party (D) state government never stops looking for yet another tax to pick our pockets. “
I’m from eastern WA, far from Puget Sound. What “state government” taxes are you talking about? I know my property taxes are going up a couple hundred dollars for a year or two, but otherwise it sounds like you are talking about Puget Sound area mass transit related taxes.
So how do you know all those from CA who moved to your neighborhood, voted Democrat?
I’m taking my wife and two kids and leaving the SF Bay Area within 3 years. Gonna sell our house in the suburbs and buy three houses somewhere sane. Don’t worry, we’re all conservatives.
