On Saturday morning, five days after Joy Reid was accused of authoring a series of homophobic blog posts that were unearthed by a Twitter user, the MSNBC host apologized for the controversy but said that she still doesn't think she wrote the posts in question.
"Here's what I know: I genuinely do not believe I wrote those hateful things," she said on AM Joy. (snip)
On Monday, when Mediaite asked Reid about the blog posts, she said "an unknown, external party accessed and manipulated material from my now-defunct blog." On Wednesday night, her lawyer confirmed the FBI was investigating "potential criminal activities surrounding several online accounts" belonging to Reid.
But, on Saturday, Reid admitted that the posts don't appear to have been the result of hacking or tampering.
"When a friend found them in December and sent them to me, I was stunned," she said "Frankly, I couldn't imagine where they'd come from or whose voice this was. The reality is they have not been able to prove it."
To further get across the message, Reid convened a panel of gay rights advocates to discuss the controversy.
While she didn't take credit for the blog posts, she admitted that she's written and tweeted hurtful, anti-gay things in the past, and pledged to do better. "I looked back on some of the ways I've talked casually about sexual gender and orientation and I wonder who that even was," she said.
Reid continued: "I'm heartbroken that I didn't do better back then. The reality is I have to own the things I've written and tweeted and said."
Now that Reid has admitted that she doesn't appear to have been hacked, it's unclear what will happen to the FBI investigation into the matter.

I thought what she wrote and posted/tweeted simply mirrored the positions held by obama and Clinton at the time concerning “homosexual rights”. Isn’t that so?
Well hold on a second here. We’re told she doesn’t “believe” she wrote those things. Set aside for the moment whatever the hell it is that she wrote, it doesn’t matter at one level.
Her contention is that “hackers” did this. Or perhaps those shape-shifting evil Weather Controlling Jooooos with the time machine correct? Anyhoo, it appears to most people that she’s simply lying through her teeth.
By getting the Fibbies involved, she’s done the federal equivalent of filing a false police report, seems to me. Resources are not unlimited, there is no magically replenishing font of taxpayer dollars available to provide political cover for wackjob liberal commentators. Agents that could (for example) be investigating terrorist threats, instead are wasting time devoted to falsehoods and BS drama. What was it that she said? It’s my understanding one thing she wrote, she pointed out that homosexuals like to bugger boys. Is this really news? This isn’t really a secret, exactly?
What’s the penalty for lying to the FBI, can someone refresh my memory?

For her to admit she was a rabid homophobic is like a butcher who admits he was vegan. It will lead to her end much sooner so she tries to buy time, lying, obfuscating, changing narrative... She is too stupid and entitled to realize she is boxing herself in a corner with her obvious and childish lies.

Can’t prove she DIDN’T say those things. The tone and meter appear to be sufficiently similar to her other pronouncements, that the statements could certainly be attributed to her in a plausible manner.
It is a b!+ch when a person gets taken out of context. It is even more of a b!+ch when a person gets caught speaking exactly in context.
If every entertainer who ever made a gay or racial joke back in the 1900s could be taken out and shot, like they now wish for others, there’d be a lot of cool property in L.A. at a discount price.
I certainly knew the older generation in Hollywood back when I was a child was all faygoteh, schwartze in their home. Kind of shocking to me because my parents never used racially nasty words even the Yiddish versions. And they told me why those words are bad.
