Abba have announced the release of their first new material in 35 years, after the pop icons got together to record two new tracks together.
The Swedish Eurovision icons recently announced that they’ll be touring in the form of virtual holograms in 2019. Now, a press release has circulated revealing that new songs are coming soon.
“The decision to go ahead with the exciting Abba avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence,” reads the statement from Abba. “We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did.
“And it was like time had stood still and that we only had been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience!”
They continued: “It resulted in two new songs, and one of them ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ will be performed in a TV special produced by NBC and the BBC aimed for broadcasting in December. We have may come of age, but the song is new, and it feels good.”

Last year, Benny Andersson announced that the group will reunite in digital form.
“We see each other every now and then, we’ve done a few different things, and now we’ve got a project ahead of us”, he said.
The show will reportedly use similar technology to that seen during Tupac’s hologram appearance at Coachella in 2012, featuring virtual representations of each member alongside a live band.
“It will take a bit of time, it takes time to digitalize a face”, Andersson added. “It’s fun that it’s so technologically advanced. It will be interesting.”

Well my mom will be thrilled at this. If they tour then she may wind up going to her first concert since before I was born.

I was in college when Dancing Queen was released.
Great song. Talented band.
From an interview I read around 15 years ago the guys kept collaborating after the group broke up.
The guys wanted a reunion, Frida was okay with it but Agnetha wasn’t speaking to the other three and refused to be interviewed.
They decided not to press on without Agnetha.
I guess 35 years was long enough to change her mind.
But is it a “tour” if the actual artists are not even there? Sounds more like a movie to me.

I read she had about $4M a couple years ago, while Bjorn and Benny were each up around $100M.
