I think NSA had the code before that. Always working on filters to toss totally routine stuff (Farmville).

Huge volume of traffic though, and my hunch is that finding the Petreas practice was not by NSA, it was by looking at HIS or HER network traffic in isolation, using a warrant. There are a few places a trail can start.

I just had a conversation with a young guy. When I found out he was Korean:

Me: You must be pretty pleased with what's going on in Korea.
Him: You mean about reunification?
Me: Yes. What do you think made things change?
Him: I have no idea.

I then went full Q on him, taking him back to the quiet takedown of the nuclear facility in October, the Olympics, the CIA, etc. He seemed to be taking it in. I told him to Google "Q Anon".

I recall you two are troll hunters and found a great definition of internet trolls in Psychology Today.

In this month's issue of Personality and Individual Differences, a study was published(link is external) that confirms what we all suspected: Internet trolls are horrible people.

Let's start by getting our definitions straight: An Internet troll is someone who comes into a discussion and posts comments designed to upset or disrupt the conversation. Often, in fact, it seems like there is no real purpose behind their comments except to upset everyone else involved. Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response.

What kind of person would do this? Some Canadian researchers decided to find out.

They conducted two online studies with over 1,200 people, giving personality tests to each subject along with a survey about their Internet commenting behavior. They were looking for evidence that linked trolling with the "Dark Tetrad" of personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism.

"... the associations between sadism and GAIT (Global Assessment of Internet Trolling) scores were so strong that it might be said that online trolls are prototypical everyday sadists." [emphasis added]

Trolls truly enjoy making you feel bad. To quote the authors once more (because this is a truly quotable article): "Both trolls and sadists feel sadistic glee at the distress of others. Sadists just want to have fun ... and the Internet is their playground!"

The next time you encounter a troll online, remember:
1.These trolls are some truly difficult people.
2.It is your suffering that brings them pleasure, so the best thing you can do is ignore them.

So the motto is don't feed the trolls but perfectly acceptable to abuse them because they like it.

It found unequivocally that torture produced no valuable counter-terrorism intelligence.[8] Following the completion of the report in 2014,[9] it was revealed that the CIA had been surveilling[10] the work of the committee. Due to public outcry[11] to release the full findings of the report before the inauguration of pro-torture[12] businessman and television producer Donald Trump to the US presidency, the Obama administration agreed to preserve[13] the findings of the report in his presidential library. A heavily redacted 500 page summary of the report is public.[14]

The completion of the report and Jones’ departure from the Intelligence Committee was heralded by former Intelligence Committee vice chair Dianne Feinstein in a tribute submitted to the congressional record.[15] Jones has been interviewed on the record regarding his work on the investigation and the subsequent controversy of the CIA [16] and DOJ’s inadequate response to the report.[17]”
