LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police Department officials on Wednesday released dramatic body-camera video from three officers involved in a shootout with a robbery suspect who later died from his injuries.
Demonjhea Jordan, 21, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, died from gunshot wounds at University of Louisville Hospital after he was shot in the 500 block of 29th Street on Tuesday, Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Wayne Pryse said.
One officer in pursuit of Jordan fired multiple shots from inside his cruiser, through the windshield, before he got out of the car. After Jordan went down, another officer went down to the ground, surrounded by colleagues, wondering if he'd been hit. But Aaron Crowell, who leads LMPD's Public Integrity Unity, said none of the officers had been shot.
"Officers are trained to deal with threats with whatever tools they have," Crowell said.
LMPD Chief Steve Conrad said the confrontation with officers started around noon Tuesday after a robbery was reported at the Metro PCS store at 2600 W. Market Stree
Officers who responded put out a description of the suspect. Conrad said 1st Division officers spotted Jordan, who matched that description, walking in the 500 block of N. 29th Street, about a block from their station.
Jordan was wounded during an exchange of gunfire with the officers and died later Tuesday afternoon at the hospital.

A Texas state trooper once told me “don’t stop firing until you’re out of ammo or just get tired of shooting a corpse.”
Sounds like good advice to me.
Why shoot through the windshield? ... The key phrase is ‘after exchange of gunfire’. Little sweetness was shooting at cops.
Low IQ mother probably pronounced it Dam on jhea. Public skrooling in action.
Shooting through the windshield .... well trained cop.
Shooting to STOP the threat ...... well trained cop(s).
Suggestion to cops, add a aftermarket “plus two” base to all your magazines and carry 3 spare magazines not just 2.
Answer to the Muther ..... ya raised a dumbass.
My opinion / experience.
Stay safe .....
The ankle bone is connect to the leg bone. The leg bone is connected to the 500 block of 29th Street. Who knew?
Exactly.
This is a travesty. Demonjhea was planning to enroll in the University of Louiville in September and major in brain surgery. He was trying to amass enough money for tuition.
He deserved a dozen shots just because of his name. This stupid woman apparently doesn't know that when your kid gets into a firefight with police officers, they're not going to take the time to count the number of bullets they fire.
My son and I stopped in Louisville on our way to Indiana. We wanted to get something to eat before entering Indiana so we pulled off near the bridge to a McDonalds. Interesting to say the least. There was this guy with a weapon and a corrections uniform hanging around inside talking to the ladies. After awhile, service was slow but courteous, I realized the guy was pulling a security detail. The crown was colorful with both ghetto and trailer types coming and going and the homeless, drug dealers, scammer types coming and going. I live just north of New Orleans so I’m used to colorful crowds but this crowd was different but the same. Just Midwestern instead of Southern. Also it was cold and in NOLA the folks would be freezing but it did not bother these folks.
How did mom and dad.....wait, mom, know to name this guy Demon?
Dijon has a brother Greypoupon? We should not be giving anyone ideas.
You were in an urban, distinctive area.. but relatively safe. 10 blocks west of you was a war zone where, no one is safe during the day and you dare not enter at night (if youre of the wrong socio-economic class)
Weve had several minor brush ups in the past couple of years, but have avoided major strife. Its been building... If stoked from the outside, I could see Louisville becoming a place where the left makes a stand.
Didnt they get rid of Lee’s statue? That didn’t calm everyone down and get rid of the crime?
Not Lee, but several Civil Way heroes, and general soldier memorials. They’re all gone. But, no. That hasn’t stopped the agitation.
BBell shoots and SCORES!
Do you seek a grrrrail?
Sounds like the punk fired first. If so twenty shots doesn’t sound unreasonable.
Nope...that's the perfect thing to say if they're looking for a big court judgment.
University of Louisville? I read that it was MIT and rocket science.
