The last few weeks I have noticed that my computer shuts down randomly. When it does this a blue screen comes up with a message that my computer will be restarting and then sending the error information that caused the problem to Microsoft. It also has a QR Code showing.
Until recently I have never seen this happen and it seems to happen when I leave the computer on for a few hours.
I am wondering if this is the result of some download from Microsoft.
I used to operate VAX/VMS.
I had to do a reset about two weeks ago. It could be a program I have on the machine causing problems.
I have everything backed up. I will run the check disc and see what happens.
Would not work.
You may be right, I cleaned out the portal and that might do the trick. Thanks.
Thanks for all the advice, It might be something simple like overheating. I cleaned out the portal and it seems to be doing better.
Good times.
What did not work?
Could not bring up the event viewer. Then I find that other apps would not come up either. I did a reset about three weeks ago. Now I think I need to do a complete reinstall.
So that is what I will do.
Sometimes that's actually a time saver.
Good luck.
Late to the party... on Win 7 machines the following patches have been found problematic to say the least:
KB4093112
KB4093118
KB4088875
KB4088878
Last two were the attempt to patch Intel Spectre/Meltdown
Thanks. I went in and deleted the most recent updates and then last night went on and did a full clean new install. The machine is now working correctly. Thanks everyone for the good advice.
