Public Library of Science found that all of that sitting can change your brain it actually shrinks the part of your brain responsible for storing memories ... One study found, however, that standing desks aren't actually as good for you as we thought.
...Because, when you're 50, you'll be glad you took those walks you might be more likely to remember where you put your car keys.

Think carefully. Was the last place you saw them was in the bottom of a canoe right before it tipped over in the deep part of the lake?
Broke my right hip 7 months ago . Movement is rather limited,
I have always contended the reason women generally live longer than men is that they get up and down, and walk around the house a lot more, GENERALLY.
Broke my right hip 7 months ago . Movement is rather limited,
I fractured my left hip 8 years ago, so I more or less understand your plight.
Did you have hip replacement, or do you have pins holding you together? I hope that the physical therapy sessions have helped you!
this is what I am sitting on right now

Nice grab.
I have spent many years mostly on my feet.
A co-worker ordered a stand-up desk, then did not like it.
I glommed on to it.
When busy I often ate my lunch standing.
Now retired, I read standing at a kitchen island. Not as good but it works.
When my wife is out, I eat standing.
You mean, like, to have a mobile PC.. like on a sushi counter (moving)?
My wife got me that chair about a decade ago when it wasn’t that much. I had a plywood standup desk for a few years at a jobsite trailer office . I liked it.
Exactly. A 50-year-old is just a child.
“A 50-year-old is just a child.”

Yep,my five are all in their fifties-———as peppy as teenagers. :-)
.
Saw this on another thread (paraphrasing) - Senility is not forgetting where your keys are, it's forgetting what they're for!
Lol
I just make sure I don’t misplace my kids !
Car keys just sit on the car floor. ( nice neighborhood)
That looks like the perfect reclining chair.
“No kidding. I would love to be 50 again.”
My mom on her 90th birthday sighed and said “Oh to be 83 again.” That was shortly after we had persuaded her that yes - waterskiing on your 90th would be really cool, but....
Uh... something about standing to find your... ah, car keys! Yeah. You can’t sit down and find your car keys or something like that....
With disabilities, I can’t sit or
stand for any prolonged periods.
What would this do for your memory?
I’m guessing they did this study
on a room full of potheads. Does
anyone remember John Boehner?
I think you are correct. I used to take a break every 45 minutes or so to stretch my legs and walk about. Freshened the mind.
It has an electric reclining operation. I have it set up at a cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. It is set next to a chair side table my dad made when he was 15 in 1932 alongside a window that looks outside onto my deck and down to the wooded cove where my small boat dock sets. I mounted a flat screen rather higher than normal on a wall so if I recline it fully to the zero G position the screen is still above my feet.
It is. delicious.
Then why did my farmer grandfather who worked from sun up to sun down outdoors and on was on his feet get Alzheimers? I hate these manipulative studies.
