Well I’ve learned two things today.
1) A straight-forward sincere comment can be completely taken out of context. My comment was, that this was a very tragic story, but the article was poorly written with a lot of important details left out. It was not sarcastic nor meant as a joke.
2) There is no shortage of self-righteousness on FR.
If its any consolation, I assumed that when you wrote the phrase heart crushing you werent trying to be funny but writing it genuinely. Was perhaps a bad choice of words given the tragedy?
Perhaps you should have just stated that the article was poorly written and then you would not have been met with perceived self-righteousness?
God bless, and prayers for the family who tragically lost their son.
