In a competitive situation, Apple has nabbed a TV series adaptation of Foundation, the seminal Isaac Asimov science fiction novel trilogy. The project, from Skydance Television, has been put in development for straight-to-series consideration...
Originally published as a short story series in Astounding Magazine in 1942, Asimovs Foundation is the complex saga of humans scattered on planets throughout the galaxy, all living under the rule of the Galactic Empire...

loved that trilogy when I was in High School—or anyway the first book. the second book slowed down and the third book of the series was forgettable.
It would be tremendously challenging to do but well worth the effort.
Great, the smug kale munching leftists at crapple will surely ruin it. Perhaps they can partner with zuckencuck to produce it
That is more lofty than even LOTR.
I am a more passionate fan of the Good Doctor than anything I can think of (Heinlein a close second for reasons I won’t go into here).
I am trying to figure out who would be a good Hari Seldon.
This stuff is really great but it is LONG. I wonder if Apple can respect the original material.
Color me “Idoubtit.”
Foundation and Earth was my favorite.
Ties the entire Asimov Galaxy together
There is a saying - good books make bad movies and vice versa. I just don’t see the Foundation trilogy (and its follow-up books) making for good TV.
Consider what Hollywood did to “Enders Game”, I’m not expecting much of a final result.
I read the trilogy a couple of years ago. I don't think it will make for scintillating TV.
Can’t even imagine what damage the greedy perverts will do to it.
You should start with “End of Eternity”, read through All the robot books, all the empire books and then all of the Foundation books.
I’ve done it. It’s very rewarding.
I own about 150 Asimov books (fiction and non-fiction) they are loads of fun to read and even if the science is dated, it’s a place to start.
And who could play The Mule? Let’s see - physically awkward, kind of skinny and dufusy, no one really knew where he came from, but he had an amazing ability to manipulate feeble minds. Can’t quite put my finger on it.....
“I don’t think it will make for scintillating TV. “
sure it will ... if you juice it with plenty of machine-gun-carrying helicopters, lots of fembots, and the like ...
Loved the original trilogy. Then 20 years later he tried to continue it. Those werent so good.
Another book series popular around the time of Foundation was the Lensman series. That would make a decent movie. J. Michael Straczynski, the creator of Babylon 5, was involved in a project to make that movie, but it was just too expensive.
Harry Seldon predicted it would be turned into a series.
I used to get excited at the prospect of classics being turned into TV series. Now I cringe. TV has become porn without the nudity.
OMFG!
I actually enjoyed them!
