Lisa Powell-Dejong laughed when she looked at the list of hospital charges from giving birth to her daughter, Liberty Mae. That's because among the charges for more expected things like the NICU stay and blood tests, was $1,216.50 for a circumcision. Yeah, a circumcision ... for her newborn daughter.
Liberty Mae is the most recent addition to the blended family of seven children. Colorado mom Powell-Dejong had a hospital birth once before but didn't check the medical bill with her first biological daughter, who was in the NICU for nine days.
"But I sure wish I had," the mom told Mom.me "She is almost 3 and I JUST paid her hospital bill off! Makes me wonder what was on there."

Female circumcision ? Must be a Mohammadan doctor. She’d better check to see if baby girl still has her hoodie.
I wonder if there is a case for fraud with the hospital because it looks ass if someone just after the fact filled in the paper work listing what charges they thought they could get away with charging.
Exactly what I was thinking. They need to check her out, and make sure she still has all the plumbing she was born with.
You didnt have to use a NICU....,,thats a very expensive place to be
This woman is in general an idiot. Shed aleeady had a child that ended up in NICU. That means this pregnancy was ka known high risk. She purposely put that baby through enormous procedures to satisfy her ego. She ought to quit while shes behind
It was a typographical error in the coding. This is why one should always check medical bills
MY “Circ” cost fifteen bucks. I still have the receipt from 1958.
Hee...hee..hee....he said ass...hee..hee...hee
There is a sort of female circumcision performed on females to increase sensitivity and improve appearance.
Some women just have too much tissue around the clitoris to allow it to be easily stimulated....so that stuff is trimmed back in as aesthetic a way as possible. This can allow enough stimulation for normal orgasm for those who have only managed it using vibrators.
Such a procedure would NEVER be done on on infant....that’s ridiculous.
Now FGM is a barbaric practice whereby the entire clitoris is cut off...it is mutilation plain and simple.
Many grown men undergo circumcision for better appearance, cleanliness issues, and greater sensation.
The simple rule of thumb is this. If a circumcision is performed to enhance sexual sensitivity it is good. If it is done to destroy sexual stimulation it is an evil mutilation and those responsible should be jailed or worse!
Work is in progress on a simple system to restore sensitivity lost to FGM
The tissue of the clitoris is very much like the tissue of the nipple....stimulate it and it engorges. A Clitoris could be grown outside the body from nipple cells and shaped properly. Tiny pressure sensors could be placed into locations in the clitoris and using very fine wires run to a very tiny internal embedded system (a tiny low-power computer) the embedded system should sense even the lightest touch on the clitoris and relay that data out to nerve endings that were supposed to pick up signals from the original unmutilated clitoris.
Such a system could have interesting advanced abilities. It could be set up to record the data going to the embedded system for playback at a later date. Hubby has to work late?
well, just play back last night’s session and kick back :-)
Or create specialized sessions by linking to a smartphone and playing around.
The embedded system would not need battery replacement, it could be powered by new, tiny, high-capacity capacitors...or super caps. These can be easily charged up using a small external device that sends pulsed DC square waves to a small coil embedded in the body.
There is nothing at all visible from the outside and using the device would soon become second-nature.
This tech also has huge ramifications for F2M transgenders.
In M2F it is simple to save the sensitive part of their glans penis and stitch it down to create a fully functional clitoris. But, Sadly, the nerve bundle for the clitoris cannot be pulled far enough to place on the rear of a created penis :-(
The option is to place pressure sensors in the proper place on the created penis and run the data wires down to the embedded device. The embedded device then sends these signals out to the nerves of the clitoris which has now been placed below skin-level. The sensations would seem out-of-place at first but the brain soon shifts the apparent location of the sensation to the created penis.
I still consult from time to time on embedded medical systems.
The fact that the coding allows for the possibility of such an error is the issue.
If it were not a typographical error, I'd favor requiring the hospital pay the baby girl a living for life.
Since it is a typo, I'll settle for calling for God to damn the Prophet Mohammed, Pork be upon Him!
We used to call this Fraud and Mail Fraud, and we used to Prosecute companies and Individuals for this crime and throw them in Prison.
This very thing happened to me when my daughter was born 40 years ago. Called the hospital. They removed the charge. No biggie.
Maybe the hospital told Lisa Powell-Dejong her baby is a daughter, instead of explaining the little incident during her son’s circumcision?
My son got diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease a couple years ago. He had a 3 day hospital stay. We found thousands of dollars in mistaken charges including $800 for a pediatric gastroenterologist consult for me, his 55 year old father.
I bumped into that doctor in an elevator and we discussed my son. They took the charge off but I’m still not convinced he didn’t try to bill me for an elevator conversation.
It finally came to a stop when we threatened to start charging them $200 an hour for forensic accounting services.
Yeah, but does she have dual citizenship?
Wait, do you mean if a woman has one baby a month premature, she should not have any more?
Shakey the Mohel can do it a lot cheaper than that!
Yes, she has 2 passports.
I know a couple that children born here and have tri citizenship, US, Thai, and Japanese.
Might be Obamacare gender neutral feature.
Better the baby never live than spend a month in NICU? That’s a pretty strange equation you are suggesting.
Our first grandson just came home from 8 weeks in the NICU and he’s perfect. I know they will have another and I’m glad. I don’t think it’s selfish at all. They know more about her body now and will take steps to get those last few weeks inside Mom instead of an isolette.
It may be expensive in the NICU but it’s not more than occasionally uncomfortable for the child, mostly they sleep and eat. Blood tests are to a minimum because premies are anemic to start with. They use special masks rather than ET tubes for all but the earliest/sickest babies. 95% survival over 29 weeks, the vast majority completely normal after their stay.
This was the woman’s second child. She apparently married a person with 5 children already.
