Macrophages are cells that play a key role in inflammation. And now, new research led by Trinity College Dublin in Ireland has found a previously unknown process that can switch off the production of inflammatory factors in macrophages. green macrophage Scientists find an 'off-switch' for inflammation in macrophages (depicted here).
The researchers suggest that the new discovery improves our understanding of inflammation and infection.
They hope that it will lead to new treatments for inflammatory diseases such as heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
“New drugs.”
In my book I use the analogy “painting over dry rot” rather than addressing the cause.
This is “painting over dry rot” and further indication that the state of health in modern society will further decline long before the regulatory authorities entrusted to safeguard public health command a leadership role.
“Somebody” needs to take action to reverse what’s approaching nearly 100 years of biased health recommendations and permissive regulations which are literally poisoning the population.
I am not alone in my critique yet all such advice - including all the recommendations in my yet-unpublished book - go unheeded or are rebuffed.
I have a label for this “game” we’re playing with human health: Last man standing. Rather than “musical chairs,” I won’t need a chair, as in my own peer group I will be standing solitary and healthy at a ripe old age as everyone else around me either suffers or passes prematurely.
Truly pathetic.
Just take curcumin, via tumeric power or supplements. Problem solved.
I started that regime and discovered that I had a violent allergy to curcumin/tumeric taken without food, causing a blinding headache, severe abdominal cramps, and explosive diarrhea. I can eat tumeric when added/cooked into food, but the tumeric pills are a definite no-no with me now. The effects took three days to build up and then took five days to ease.
tumeric is not recommended for certain conditions- can worsen certain ones- like diabetes, gerd, bleeding conditions, iron deficiency, Gallbladder problems etc- but i had looked into that awhile back and was not feeling real easy about it after reading the research- for healthy people it should pose no problems, but for some folks it advisable to avoid it as a supplement
I don’t particularly agree with anything you’ve said, but it seems to me inflammation and fevers are the body’s way of accomplishing something. Shutting them down might not always be the ideal tool.
'Unintended consequences' comes to mind.
Tumeric. Best anti inflammation agent known to man. Look up “golden milk”.
Unfortunately it can’t be patented, so we ignore it.
Take it with a little ground black pepper.
If you take Turmeric, you gotta take 2 heaping spoonfuls, which some folks can’t hack, but to fully realize its potential you must take it with ground black pepper at the same time. There is something in black pepper that makes the Turmeric more available, or something.
It makes for a nasty smoothie, but I can feel it helping my lower back pain. It lasts almost 2 days before it goes back to normal.
Hops: natural COX-2 inhibitor without the negative side effects. Suggest at bed time, as it has long been used as a mild natural sedative.
Serrapeptase: natural CIC neutralizer, without the negative side effects of aspirin or ibuprofin, or prescription SAIDs and NSAIDs. Suggest on empty stomach.
Not prescribing, just informing.
Artificial anti-inflammatories tend to shut down all Circulating Immune Complexes [CICs].
Some are for routine maintenance. Some are for acute symptoms.
Pain and inflammation are to discourage use while body repairs. Pro-inflammatory agents in modern diet make them permanent instead of temporary - hence chronic problem.
Artificial anti-inflammatories not only stop the renegade CICs, but the routine ones. Thus the body cannot repair the stomach lining, e.g., and one gets a bleeding ulcer.
Highly-fibrinolytic systemic enzymes are, in my opinion, as good or better as any artificial anti-inflammatory drug, but are selective - thus reduction of pain, but no ulcer, e.g.
I consider them the most valuable non-nutritional (not needed) supplement on the market. Around since 1959.
I value turmeric (major Ayurvedic spice) for many reasons, but I recommend systemc enzymes first before anything else.
Not prescribing, just informing.
You either completely misunderstood what I wrote or have no comprehension at all of the causes and/or effects of systemic inflammation.
Every once in a while, my lower back feels stiff. I’ll take a turmeric capsule and have instant relief. I can go for days/weeks until I need another capsule.
Probably both. I am not a doctor.
I wasn’t trying to be rude, but to make a point: In essence, we are in agreement.
From my perspective, inflammation is responsible for many of the common symptoms afforded names such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and even Alzheimers. In the case of heart disease, the body’s response to inflammation is to heal with cholesterol. Think of plaque buildup from cholesterol as like a cut on the finger that keeps getting opened: The scab gets bigger and the area more inflamed until a healing state is permitted. Diabetes, Alzheimer’s and other maladies are quite a bit different, but rather academic:
The smallest blood vessels in your body are the capillaries, many of which are so small that they barely accommodate single red blood cells, which are responsible not only for bringing life-giving oxygen, but - most-importantly - taking away cellular waste. Inflammation restricts blood flow; cholesterol can compound the problem. Most people are unaware that cholesterol buildup can occur anywhere in the body, not just in the heart. Cholesterol is a red flag for inflammation and taking statins is one of the greatest assaults on public health in modern history. RESTORING normal bloodflow by reducing inflammation - through the elimination of antagonists, not via ingestion of more chemicals - is the logical answer to the many names afforded symptoms of inflammation.
So the next time you read an ignorant article about Alzheimer’s, you now have a greater understanding of the condition than most medical researchers: Inflammation is to Alzheimer’s as plumbing is to your toilet (backed up). How’s that for an analogy?
The failure to remove cellular waste is compounded by the cellular starvation of oxygen.
I had symptoms of Type II diabetes, enlarged prostate and arthritis...all effects of inflammation. All are reversed. A friend followed my Methodology for a year and his doctor removed him from all of his blood pressure medications and those for his pre-diabetes; he continues to improve in health.
In short (I’ve written a couple hundred thousand words on all aspects of this topic), inflammation is endemic to our modern society and it is paramount for people to adopt personal responsibility to remove the MANY sources of inflammation to permit the body to heal...
...NOT ingest just one more chemical compound - pharmaceutical or otherwise - to reverse a symptom, no different than painting over dry-rot or, as I note in my book as my pet analogy, perpetually “bailing a leaky boat.” Until then, this public health epidemic will continue unabated no different than a runaway train weighted down with special interests and our government driving it recklessly.
:)
Chronic inflammation is basic component of most degenerative conditions - and modern diets are pro-inflammatory.
Fibrin and calcium are components of resulting plaque (scarring). Thus either decalcification of “bad calcium” and/or fibrinolysis scar tissue is beneficial in reversing damage, along with reducing current inflamkation.
There are herbs and minerals that do the former, and systemic enzymes that do the latter.
My point - loosely-attributed in your initial comment - is that healing cannot be achieved in the absence of removing antagonists. ALL, not just dietary, and that consuming “medications” to do so in the absence of full commitment is analogous to painting over dry rot.
