According to information from the Bennettsville Police Department, Halie Clark was charged with four counts of disseminating harmful materials to minors.
During her time as a substitute teacher, the suspect allegedly produced and circulated the image to the students via her cellphone, according to the BPD.
Clark is currently in jail at the Marlboro County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. The investigation continues and more charges may come.

My 8th grade teacher (nun) would have cracked me in the back of the head with the hickory pointer while telling me “Quick-ly” in a thick Irish brogue. That was 56 years ago, and I don’t take to kindly to corrections in grammar. I know the correct forms but fast thumb typing on a smart phone I sometimes truncate things for expedience.

She looks indian. Marlboro County, SC borders Robeson County, NC, which is the Lumbee stronghold. Marlboro County as a whole is fairly rural, less than 30K population and declining, as well as majority black. If you’ve never spent any time on the southeastern Atlantic coastal plain in the black belt, you’ve never met black people quite like this. They never left after the collapse of slavery, they stayed and became sharecroppers. The ruins of the old plantations that bear their surnames are sometimes visible, mostly not now, though, with the occasional rare one that the Yankees missed still intact, maintained and lived in.

It was named for the Duke of Marlborough when the county was established under British rule, early 1700’s. I know the place well, spent a summer or two down there and in Florence, SC with my dad, he was supervising getting new textile mills up and running in the 70’s. At one time and they may still, the big street festival for Bennettsville, the county seat, was the annual Chitlin Strut. I tried chitlins there the one and only time I’ve ever eaten them.
That’s usually what it ends up being.
