VATICAN CITY Pope Francis, in his Easter address on Sunday, called for peace in the Holy Land two days after 15 Palestinians were killed on the Israeli-Gaza border, saying the conflict there "does not spare the defenseless".
The pope made his appeal in his "Urbi et Orbi" (to the city and the world) message from the central balcony of St. Peter's Basilica to tens of thousands of people in the flower-bedecked square below where he earlier celebrated a Mass.
He also appealed for an end to the "carnage" in Syria, calling for humanitarian aid to be allowed to enter, and for peace in South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Francis appeared to refer directly to the Gaza violence last Friday, calling for "reconciliation for the Holy Land, also experiencing in these days the wounds of ongoing conflict that do not spare the defenseless."
Israel's defense minister has rejected calls for an inquiry into the killings by the military during a Palestinian demonstration that turned violent at the Gaza-Israel border.

Frank is a false prophet and Marxist scum. I detest this asshole and cannot believe the crap that comes from his filthy filthy mouth.
Catholics......you have a huge problem
Another reason (for me) to abhor the Catholic hierarchy .
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Vatican is heavily funding the Palestinians so creating sympathy for the Palestinians gives the Vatican cover.
The Vatican has always wanted more influence, power and control in Jerusalem and the Holy Land since the first Crusade.
So, he doesn’t preach the gospel, he doesn’t believe in Hell and he’s an anti-Semite. And I’m supposed to believe he’s a Christian?
Saved me the effort of typing exactly what you said! You probably said it better, though. Thanks.
Hey Frankie, STFU!
Total Soros puppet going to hell.
Most of the sacred places of Christianity in the Mideast are MUSLIM controlled. Christians are being slaughtered and enslaved. This Pope does not seem to be an advocate for Christians nor Christianity.
That this should be focus of concern for the Pope on Easter and a central topic of his Easter address is rather breathtaking.
It really calls one to seriously meditate and reflect on the Popes comments to try to discern the Christian or Christ Centric purpose, if any, to this message, because the conclusion one reaches - one way or another, is of profound consequence.
The Pope is either very right in some important, but not immediately obvious, aspect of Christian teaching or he could not possibly be more wrong.
Either way, the Pope’s comments instruct in a most critical fashion the direction of the path Christians are going currently down
Didn’t go to Mass today either. When this Pope and. “The Bookie” as I call the current pastor are gone I will go back.
I no longer believe this Pope is even a Christian.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Let’s see: A Hebrew God, A Jewish Messiah, A Jewish Bible and this guy hates Israel??
The media...it's always the filthy lying media...and the Pope is a little odd....
This Pope is an utter blooming idiot. I know Catholics are so frakin’ proud, yeah? =.=
Many Catholics have a serious problem with ill Papa.
Yes!
Pope Francis?
...didnt read it.
He Gazans are living in wombs?
I am not Catholic but have a very close friend who is. She is so upset with what is happening with Pope Francis. Not just with what he has been saying about so many things, that seem so anti-Catholic. She told me that there should never be 2 Popes living at the same time, and Benedict is still the Pope, Francis is apostate, in her mind.
And Bishop Jorge is always wrong. If he says it is raining grab you sun hat.
