We’re having a moment for male tears — no, not the kind that the popular feminist mug metaphorically collects in pursuit of bringing down the patriarchy. We’re talking literal tears that men shed in moments of televised vulnerability.
Take the Netflix reboot of “Queer Eye,” just renewed for a second season. Yes, it’s a makeover show with bubbly experts instructing schleppy men on the wonders of slim-cut jeans, five-minute grooming routines, Ikea and avocados. But it’s also a show about men who are stuck and held in place by fear, insecurity, past trauma or rigid norms of what it means to be a man.
Just like the old series, a group of openly gay men deemed “experts” in areas such as food and culture enter a stranger’s life and try to improve it. “The original show was fighting for tolerance,” says one member of the new Fab Five at the top of the 2018 series. “We’re fighting for acceptance.”
In the process, Netflix’s “Queer Eye” subtly dings toxic masculinity. Giving these strangers haircuts and time to spend a few minutes taking care of themselves also gives them a chance — or, a push — to open up a bit about what’s bubbling below the surface. Sometimes these guys cry, surprising even themselves.

Real men like women.
The feminization of American society is appalling. And this has nothing to do with women. It is the demonization of men, often by feminists, but also by self-hating men.
I hate and despise it at all levels and in all of its iterations.
Of which there are a lot.

IIRC, Brando totally surprised him with that outburst. If he wasn't soaking the hanky before it, he probably thought about it afterwards.
(The one time I had a male relation come to me crying with almost these exact words, I *so* wanted to re-enact this scene, but wasn't sure enough of Brando's lines to pull it off. Probably just as well, he managed to pull himself together ultimately, heh.)
They use Queer Eye for an example? I doubt anyone is surprised. I find that a ridiculous example and does not show a big change in men crying on TV because on show about gay men has crying. I guess a reporter was running late for a story and just threw up this nonsense.
Maybe a little off topic, but there’s a Tide commercial with some pathetic new age “dad” who chases his 5 year old kid around to wash her princess dress, because she lives in it. He has to get her out of it once a week because he’s got to do the laundry.
Honestly, it makes me so angry. He looks like such a flipping idiot and is an embarrassment. He’s all dressed up in costume running around playing like a fruitcake. Just disgusting. I hope he never has to fight to save the kid - he’d break down crying.
Beta males are in, feminized males are in. Real men are out until someone needs something only a real man can do.

So many on Chopped are gay or lesbian. Can’t stand all the chefs of fluid genders. Who wants to eat what they prepare as they nibble on the food, handle it with their nasty hands with no sink in sight and drip sweating to the food. It looks like STDs on parade.
Can’t that ruin the TV set? I don’t think they’re supposed to get wet.
