Never bring pepper spray to a gun fight.

Not so sure I’d want to charge a rifle down a hallway with some pepper spray. Pass.

Uh, I think the range of a gun is a bit more than the range of a pepper spray canister.

Bear spray would be better than nothing.

"Even if a gun was accessible, who would be willing to use it?"

Anyone but a moron.

And we don't need morons masquerading as school teachers!

Guess this moron has never watched the show, “Cops”, where the suspect keeps coming after a face full of pepper spray. These so-called educators are just too damn stupid to even set foot on school grounds.

Actually, as someone who has a concealed carry license, it is a good idea in addition to carrying a lethal weapon, to also carry a “less-lethal” weapon such as pepper spray or taser.

I have been taught that I should only use my concealed carry weapon, when my life (or the life/safety of another) is in danger and that a “reasonable man” would feel that lethal force s the only option. In all other situations, a less lethal weapon is more appropriate.

For teachers, I feel solid training in the laws regarding the use of lethal force is necessary before they are allowed to carry in a school. I also would favor that they be armed both with a lethal weapon and a “less lethal weapon”, such as pepper spray.

So the idiot on the TV is only half wrong depending on your perspective.

Ms. Harvey, let's get one thing straight. Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY has suggested 'arming teachers.' Never, not once.

What has been proposed over and over again is to end the practice of DISARMING teachers at the schoolhouse doors.

There won't be a "break glass in case of school shooting" cabinet in the hallway with an AR. Instead, teachers, administrators, even janitors, who already have concealed licenses and practice the habit of carrying a firearm concealed with them when they are out among the community, will be offered the option of remaining armed when they enter the classroom.

Those who choose not to exercise their Second Amendment rights will never be forced to carry a gun in school, nor will the schools be passing out Glocks along with the keys to the Faculty Lounge to all of the first year new hires.

Only those individuals who volunteer to arm themselves, and to undergo additional training if the school administration deems it appropriate, will be carrying guns.

The rest of you can simply ignore the few faculty that are providing you with protection.

"Usually", but not always. Since 1990 at least 61 deaths were associated with police use of pepper spray. [Based on a quick Google search.]

Aren’t this the same people who claim that a pistol will be ineffective against a military grade semi-automatic assault rifle?

We've moved from a bucket of stones, skipped spears, and went right to pepper spray. Thankfully this is moving a little faster than the evolution of humanity. The intelligent folks should be along to press for firearms soon.

Otherwise known as close quarters combat pepper spray.

Sure. Because pepper spray stops bullets. Especially when someone is really, really, PO’d they just got pepper sprayed. Then it stops bullets real good.
