Antler animal rights protest, Toronto, Canada. (Image via Twitter.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Animal rights activists were in for a grisly surprise over the weekend when protesters in front of a popular Toronto restaurant were treated to a live demonstration on how to properly butcher the hind quarter of a deer.
Chef Michael Hunter is co-owner of Antler, a restaurant that serves "local seasonal and wild foods" that are native to Canada, "such as bison, boar, rabbit, duck and deer." When vegan protesters returned to his restaurant for the fourth time in recent days with signs bearing messages like "animals are not ours to use," "killing and eating animals is horrifying" and "MURDER," Hunter decided to conduct a little protest of his own.
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."
Classic. Reminds me of the old Rush Limbaugh TV show where a chef ripped apart a live lobster and threw the still moving crustacean parts into a skillet as Katie Couric looked on in horror.
PETA tried to sue but nothing came of it.
Geesh.
Sounds like the PERFECT animal for protesters to stand in front of :)
You know these kids’ parents are a@@holes.
Or their parents are normal and they are brainwashed elsewhere, like school, maybe.
Would love for an expert to tell them HOW MANY things they wear or use have some part of some animal in them.
Yeah. They're a lot easier to get into the oven if you shoot them first.
They don’t believe in God, why would they believe in Man’s dominion?.................
My dyslexia is becoming worse with age. I was eager to read the story because I read the headline as: Chef Butchers Animal Rights Activists in Front of Deer.
Love it.
Freudian Solipsism?...............
If God did not want us to eat animals, He wouldn’t have made them out of meat. Duh.
Jaguars are from the Americas but other than that I agree with you...
Otherwise, the struggle would've sent the PETA whackos over the edge.
Really?
Which areas?
North, central, south? All?
Interesting. Thanks.
I believe it was a general response to PETA advertisements, rather than Mr. Hunter's direct response to his p*ss-ant gadflies.
Not all of course or you couldn’t let your dog out...
Jaguars used to range as far as far north as the SW US and Louisiana, but while there are occasional sightings of lone animals, probably young males here, there are no longer known to breed here. The most recent one trapped was in Arizona in 2009.
They range southward into Argentina.
Damn vegans..................
There’s Jaguars in Jacksonville!.................
Fascinating. Thanks.
This was kinda nasty, but it was fun to see the reaction:
I trout fished in the Smoky Mtns Nat’l Park for years...
PETA was protesting trout fishing, saying “Can’t you hear those poor trout screaming for their lives on that hook?”
I usually released most of the trout I caught, but the day of their protest at Sugarlands Ranger Station, I kept one about 10-12 inches and went to the station...
As I walked toward the protesters, one saw me in my fishing garb and screamed, “There’s one of them!!!”
I calmly reached in my creel and pulled out the flopping trout and lifted it up to my mouth and took a big bite out of it’s side...I looked at the protester and asked if she heard it screaming...
She promptly screamed and then vomited all over herself....
A Ranger friend of mine came running out when he heard the commotion, saw me and said “Oh...It’s you...”
He turned and went back inside...
I LOVED IT!!!!!
