JMO, but I think 5 might be a stretch.
When you consider the bill in light of the ongoing STORM ... a 6 month continuing resolution is appropriate and in order. They have a budget coming together and can fight that battle ahead and during the election campaign. Right now, however, battle down the hatches!

I know, trust the plan. A few pointers on what the plan is would be helpful.

I feel the roller coaster, too. If Trump vetoes this horrible budget and initiates a government shutdown on significant length, Congress could back down with little damage to themselves. If Trump backs down and signs, he will be a domestic lame duck the rest of his single term in office.
I will be greatly disappointed and pissed off if this budget goes through. But I think you go too far in saying it will guarantee no second term. The Donald has and still will have a lot more winning between now and the mid terms and his re-election bid.
His base will not abandon him and he will pick up more support due to the improving economy. My main worry is the mid terms. But I think the Dems are overly hopeful and we will keep the House and Senate. I predict we increase our majorities even.
