JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE IN CONCERT
APRIL 1 | EASTER SUNDAY
The globally celebrated musical classic comes to NBC for a one-of-a-kind live staging!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Looking forward to this!
You just can’t replace Ted Neely.....
Oh well, love the original movie and I’m grown enough to separate the movie from my personal beliefs. If I watch any of it, it will be because I’m a huge Alice Cooper fan.
Junior High Choir had us sing a selection from there. The homosexual choir teacher was extraordinarily happy about this particular set, which I thought was odd. I didn’t realize at the time how anti-Christian the whole thing was.
It stands to reason that liberal, leftist, anti-Christian NBC would broadcast this despicable presentation on Easter Sunday, the highest holy day in the Christian calendar celebrating and commemorating the bodily resurrection of Christ from the dead.
As another poster has aptly said "I'll pass", and you should too.
Excellent critique.
I saw the musical live and enjoyed it. I don’t think it’s sacrilegious, but religious it is not; neither is is scriptural in the sense a devout Christian understands scriptural. They just took parts of the Gospel and made a fun pop musical out of it.
If it draws people to Christ, that is wonderful, but it’s foolish to try to learn theology from pop music.
At that point, just call it Obama: The Musical.
Spiritually He is beyond and above any racial configuration - the Word existed before time, before the creation of humanity.
Was phenomenal. “Jesus” in spray paint the whole time on NBC primetime as the set.
Very respectful. Alice Cooper was awesome. The whole cast was.
Unapologetic story of Christ’s last week. Great music and great cast.
How so? You sound like the church lady.
Thank you. What I’m reading here is horrific.
Jesus is a black guy? Who cares? So is Judas. Is that ok? Since he’s the bad guy.
These nutjobs condemning this without seeing it. Mary Magdalene a tranny? Wtf? No!
You people need to get off your high horse. Jesus hung out with less than pure people. That was kinda the point...
Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
John 12:27
Kinda sounds like a man to me. Not an ordinary man, but a man. Don’t ever doubt Jesus was a man.
Not sure what your comment had to do with mine. I walked out of that movie some years ago because they portrayed so much of Jesus and the Bible, wrong. Mary Magdalene was a woman in the Bible... nothing more!! They dishonored my Lord and made assumptions that were not true. Jesus was the Son of God, sent to the earth as the perfect sacrifice to the sins of the world. If He had not been perfect, He could not have been a sacrifice at all and we’d still be in a sinful existence with no out.
They can’t change one iota of what Jesus did or who He was. He was tempted in all things and never partook of any temptation. I am particular on what they do to my Lord and the slant they tried to show Him as a regular man. He was not a regular man... He was the Son of God... Joseph was not his father, besides serving as one after He was born.. but Jesus’s father was God.... Jesus was divine.. a man and yet divine by birth and divine by the end of His life on the cross. He fulfilled all that God, his father, asked of him.
The movie made a mockery of the very thing Jesus came to earth for... to be the perfect sacrifice, to remove the veil between man and God and to save us from the sin of the world that was here via Adam and Eve. To make Jesus a normal man with temptations like the rest of man... is to deny the purpose and the make a mockery of God’s Son.. it removes the Perfect Sacrifice and if that is removed, we are all still as lost as we were before Jesus came and went to the cross for us. I wouldn’t mess around with God and think it’s funny or a good movie to go see...
I didn’t make the rules.. God did.
My reaction too...but tried to ignore all the sanctimonious FREEPR comments. Ha.
OH, I forgot...we have posters who know how Jesus looked and adding their factually incorrect comments about the cast.
Mary Magdeline was a very wealthy woman who helped the apostles financially. ..not “ just a woman, nothing more”
When this movie first came out they tried to attach her as more than what you described. They made Jesus into a man with earthly temptations with Mary Magdalene. That was the reason i said nothing more. She was not his girlfriend. I walked out of this movie.
