With air mattresses and beach chairs tucked under their arms, they began arriving as early as midnight, lining up down the sidewalk and around the corner in downtown Sao Paulo, Brazil.
"Make sure you have your vaccination card and your number in hand," a public health clinic worker shouted to those lucky enough to have one of the 300 numbers that would allow them to receive a full dose of the yellow fever vaccine, good for a lifetime.

Though the surge has largely been in rural areas, there is increasing concern that if people don't get the vaccine, the virus could spread into the country's biggest cities.
Those lined up on the January morning in Sao Paulo were also racing against the clock. The Brazilian government, faced with the task of vaccinating millions as quickly as possible, said it would begin reducing vaccine doses in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro by the end of January to help stretch supplies.
Though health officials insisted even a partial dose would protect people for up to eight years, many remained unconvinced.
"Why would I only want only part of a vaccination?" asked Isabel Antonia Martins, who waited in line that day. "We don't know if it will have the same effect as a full dose. I'm not taking any chances, especially with the way yellow fever has been spreading."

Didn’t I just see an article on FR yesterday about Brazil being the safest place to be if a Zombie Apocalypse occurred? The Zombies wouldn’t get you, but the Yellow Fever would.
Shithole country.
But hey, they got to host the Olympics.
Is that the one that turns you blue?
I too question the half dose. While that might help the person, it typically also helps to develop a resistant form of the virus sooner rather than later. JMHO
when I worked in Africa, measles vaccine was first released in the 1970s, it cost 3 dollars a dose, and there wasn't enough vaccine available. government subsidies lowered the price to one dollar...
and we gave 3 injections from each vial...some clinics gave one fifth a dose.
yes, we had a few kids who got measles after the shot, but a mild case, and none of them died.
Brazil is ordering yellow fever vaccine from all over the world...there is a shortage, alas.
I am a fan of Colloidal Silver.
I make it. I gargle with it when I feel a cold coming on, and spray it in my nose when I feel a cold in there.
Question: How does CS fight Yellow Fever? What is the method of delivery?
FReepers keep saying it is not for internal use.
You just need to drink it
I make it everyday with distilled water I make and three 9v batteries and pure Ag electrodes. They last about 5 years
It goes int the blood and stays about a week
It artacks all single gelled organisms and disables their vital o2 intake
Kills ALL batería and viruses
Yay, a fellow CS fan.
ther’s lot’s of science-t folks on FR who detest CS. They call it voodoo.
Around here hunters use it in a salve when their dogs get tusked by hogs. It’s either that or put them down.
PS: In my experience, 27v (that is, 3 9v batteries) is WAY too much current.
I use about 12v, but I also use a power supply and can control the current.
Probably. At the least, if you “caught it” it would be a milder case.
But Yellow Fever? Damn. That’s a post apocalypse disease.
