If CA is so bad, why are so many people going there?
They did not take climate into account when they were ranking the states.
North Dakota weather leaves a bit to be desired.
New Jersey is 49th?! No wonder I hate living here so much!
California is going to end up with two class’s of people. The rich and everybody else who is reliant on the government for a living. The middle class will no longer exist.
And I bet I can come up with a ranking criteria that says Norklandia in the best country to live in.
And millions will click on that article.
And my advertisers will pay me.
I question their selection of North Dakota as #1. And Texas and Florida both rank below Maryland, which is ridiculous.
The article says that states were ranked on two criteria,
natural environment and social environment. I think the latter criterion is incredibly vague.
What about cost of living? Crime? Quality and adequacy of infrastructure? Population density?
Etc.
I don’t think CA would fare well on any objective measure, but this ranking might just as well be based on how far north the state is.
Since all their rating is based only on the Environment, Social Activism, and Voting, this is pretty much a worthless ranking.
Germans do it again.
Social Environment Ranking:
1. Alaska
2. Montana
3. North Dakota
4. Minnesota
5. Wisconsin
6. Utah
7. New Hampshire
8. Maine
9. Oklahoma
10. Iowa

As nice as the weather and scenery there is... Due to the political BS and cost of living CA is number 50 out of 50 for where I’d choose to live. Yes, I’ve spent time in the northeast “rust belt” and even in the frozen north of Minnesota / Wisconsin. Aside from the places I’ve lived, I’ve visited nearly all 50 states. CA rates as a nice enough place to visit, but no rational person would ever pay me the amount of money it would take to get me to live there.
“U.S. News & World report ranked the best states in the US for quality of life.”
To understand the strange results we see in this report one only need look once again at the above.
But Texas--where everyone from California is moving--isn't far behind, at 46.
California’s a South American hellhole...
Violence, gangs, small percentage of uber rich ‘elites’ and lots of very very poor people. Not much middle-class... yep, it’s a hellhole.
LMAO. Especially this time of year.
Such silly lists. How many people want to and live in ND compared to states with warmer weather and actual cities?
Who really cares how many of their neighbors vote?
NY ranks better than Texas? This evaluation just lost all credibility.
Don’t believe it.
Montana should be ranked dead last.
There is no reason to come here so forget about it.
Winter is 7 months long and horrible.
If you are thinking about it then please reconsider.
If you are on your way then take the next exit and turn around now.
Atlanta sucks but the rest of GA is great.
