They arent calling him Lyin Ted anymore.
Sen. Ted Cruzs stock is rising among members of President Trumps base who feel double-crossed after the president offered amnesty to illegals in the immigration debate. Some who opposed Mr. Cruz in his 2016 run for the White House are even clamoring for the Texas Republican to mount a primary challenge to Mr. Trump in 2020. The newfound esteem for Mr. Cruz, whom Mr. Trump dubbed Lyin Ted when they battled for the 2016 Republican nomination, is coming from people who were die-hard supporters of the president.
Ted Cruz has kept his word to the American citizens, and we are watching this very, very carefully, said Sue Payne, a conservative activist in Washingtons Maryland suburbs who in 2016 championed Mr. Trump and reviled Mr. Cruz. Im getting very sick of Donald Trump right now. Hes turning his back on the people who put him in office.
The moves by Mr. Trump that have alienated supporters include the budget deal that threatens more skyrocketing debt and a tax cut law that could make people pay more in high-tax states.

Right on, NP!
Too funny - Cruz is the guy who got beat by the guy who “couldn’t run a lemonade stand, much less a campaign” and now those who would have let Hillary win rather than vote for someone less conservative than Cruz are feeling their panties hitch up into their cracks....
I will never forgive this SOb for pandering to antifa in Chicago against the Trump visit. What a fracking fool and joke Cruz is. He could have gained noteriety doing the opposite
Ted Cruz was fighting for us when Donald Trump was helping elect democrats and called Obama a great president. I voted for Trump and back him 90% of the time but amnesty for illegals and gun control were never in the mix!!!
Horse p**ky. No one is warming to Ted Cruz.
MAGA!!!!
Mister Haney is no more supported now then before this is Bull Shiite.
I’m not a Cruzer, I’m not a Trumper.
I’m a conservative. When someone stakes out a conservative position, I support them. When they don’t, I oppose them.
Some are into the cult of personality, but you’re going to be disappointed if you do that.
Close the borders, deport illegals, get the feral government out of the welfare business, cut taxes, cut the budget, build up the military, and enact fair trade policies.
Act conservative or face opposition, regardless of what your last name is.
I wouldn’t agree 100%; I get WT news alerts and read a of their articles; many are good; some are slanted against Trump. And anything that glosses over Cruz’ perfidy and deceit and non-eligibility is suspect.
Character counts too, anyone can spout nice sentences and take them back later, if they are duplicitous and self serving. Like Cruz.
He was born in Canada. His father was not a US citizen. Who knows when Cruz even got any kind of US citizenship. That alone means he’s a liar and has no understanding of the basic principle of natural born citizenship.
Plus his behavior in Chicago, AND at the convention.
I’m not neutral about Cruz, I’m highly negative.
And Trump has not done any “betrayal” on DACA.
More fake news.
Good position. In this case, that’s not Cruz’s; I guess we can be happy with the status quo on the border and on immigration, 1,000,000 chain migrants every year, nothing done on security at that border, at least in a legislative bill and no wall. Thanks Senator Cruz. Somewhere, there will have to be some give and take.
LOL, a challenge to Trump?...LOL..Too funny.
It's what they do.
You do realize that Trump is proposing a massive amnesty and Cruz is opposing it, don’t you?
And that Trump is a long-time amnesty guy, up to and slightly beyond when he started running for president.
But he said what he needed to say to get elected (”no amnesty”), then did what he had always believed.
And remember, Hillary was certain to win.
Trump signed an EO killing DACA, but then he's offering THREE TIMES as many illegal aliens amnesty as Obama covered under DACA.
Do you remember Simpson-Mazzoli? I do. it traded amnesty for 2-3 million illegals for border security. Except we never got the border security. It was President Reagan's biggest mistake, and President Trump is poised to repeat it.
“Im not a Im not a Cruzer, Im not a Trumper....
Some are into the cult of personality, but youre going to be disappointed if you do that.”
That’s true, it’s the agenda that’s important, not the person.
But agendas don’t run for president, people do, so ultimately you have to choose a person.
Personality. That’s why I chose Trump - even though at the time I thought Cruz was more of a true conservative. I had no problem with Ted Cruz’s conservatism, it was his personality - he came off as preachy - I believed (and still believe) he had no chance of winning in the general.
Cruz wore his conservatism on his sleeve - he would have gotten few if any democrat crossovers or independants. With his preachy personality, and outspoken conservatism, Cruz would have been easily branded by the left, using their tried and true playbook of class division and religious right fear-mongering.
Trump on the other hand knew how to confuse the Left. They tried everything but couldn’t figure out how to brand him. Was he too religious or not religious enough? Was he a warmonger or too chummy with Putin? Was he too rich and successful or was he exaggerating his wealth? Was he free enterprise or protectionist? Was he pro labor or anti labor? They never figured him out. Plus, he knew how to get on the offensive, and stay there, all the time letting them think he was a political neophyte.
To this day, Trump is still playing the Left, letting them think they have him on the ropes over Russiagate, obstruction-gate, etc. - letting them think he is isolated, frustrated, impulsive, ineffective... and while they are distracted by those memes, attacking his personality, they are unaware of his consevative agenda - he is quietly MAGA. Cruz had no such political guile.
So yes, it is the conservative agenda that is important, not the cult of personality, but ultimately, we still have to choose a person and clearly we made the right choice with Trump.
To anyone trying to resurrect Ted Cruz or raise doubts as to whether we made the right choice back then - I say hogwash. Trump is ten times the conservative anyone thought he’d be - even his most avid supporters are pleasantly surprised. AND he won.
If we had chosen Ted Cruz, Hillary Clinton would be president. Period.
There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that Ted Cruz would have gone through the motions, won about 190 electoral votes, given a forgettable concession speech, and GOP Inc would have been happy.
You’re quite wrong. This has been gone over and over. Ted was a Luttig advocate. (He ahd worked with and for Luttig), but when 41 decided on Roberts, Ted, like most people, got behind him. That was an error, but it was an error virtually everyone made (except a few of us.)
I would have fought the nomination and then tried to get Luttig nominated.
