January 8 is Stephen Hawking’s 75th birthday, an age particularly remarkable for a man living with a form of the motor-neuron disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In celebration of Hawking’s remarkable life achievement despite his severe disability, let’s have a look at the disease that we’ve come to so closely associate with this brilliant mind.

Article is a year old, but I was interested in Hawking's medical costs and prognosis.

Such an intriguing, brilliant and controversial man.

Hawking lives in the UK (he’s a Brit) so the NHS has been his medical provider for decades. Perhaps his case has furthered ALS medical science/knowledge.

NHS is for the proles. Ruling class folks can get private medical care, sometimes in designated portions of the NHS facilities.

Benny Hill would frequently skewer the difference in care on his show.

While he’s technically alive, I think many might not call it living.

I was in a serious relationship with a man with ALS. He received recombinant DNA injections at the VA hospital as part of an experimental study.

It’s stupefying that anyone could survive to 75 with this disease.

It is a horrible, horrible illness.

I’d rather be dead than live with ALS

Yes I think you’re correct— and what a tragedy if he went through life suffering like this only to not enter heaven due to disbelief in God. Pray that SH has a conversion to Truth and Light salvation ..

“let’s have a look at the disease that we’ve come to so closely associate with this brilliant mind. Not exactly. It was originally known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This antisemitic clown makes a mockery of science pretending to have a great mind.

For someone with so much intellect he says some stupid, rude and narcissistic things about us regular folks. I have learned to dislike him over the years.
