Are you allowed guns in Russia?

Are you allowed guns in Russia? Found this information.

Individuals are not allowed to carry guns acquired for self-defense; a license only serves as a carrying permit for hunting and sport firearms when these guns need to be transported. Russian citizens may not own guns that shoot in bursts or have magazines with more than a ten-cartridge capacity.

When there is a will there is always a way. Banning guns does not make us safer, in fact it could put us in even greater danger. Good find BTW.

“” “” Handguns are generally not allowed. Rifles and shotguns with barrels less than 800 mm (31 in) long are prohibited””” “

There are legal ways to put hands on handguns and foldable stocks makes 800mm rule less on an issue.

All of the above is not exactly a gun paradise but way ahead of UK and most of Europe.

There’s a YouTube video here with the discussion. Notice in the comments that “Jared” is rebutted by Hyperprapor and other Russians. They said that the media release (or propaganda) claiming that firearms could be carried for self-defense was a “media misconception.”

And remember that “self-defense weapons” there are have a limited light gas or powder charge and may only fire rubber bullets.

From a survey in 2007, Russian civilians had a total of less than 13 million firearms with only half of the population of the U.S.A. There were 25,650 homicides in Russia in 2007.

I guess we have to admit that most Democrats are certifiable.

Combination of ‘certifiable’ and pure evil. Overall, they know EXACTLY what they’re doing, and are damn good at it. That’s the scary part.

BTW, a blogger you linked has no problem using multiple firearms in Russia. And he is not even a citizen.

In regards to the Internet hoax in 2014,...

You thought Gun Laws were strict here in the U.S.? Look what Russia is doing…
United Gun Group
January 29, 2018
https://www.unitedgungroup.com/news/2018/01/29/thought-gun-laws-strict-u-s-look-russia/
“In 2014, the Russian parliament passed an amendment allowing citizens to carry licensed weapons for the purposes of ‘self-defense,’ but the Interior Ministry quickly added that this covered only non-lethal guns, not hunting or combat versions. In October 2017, the head of the Russian National Guard – the federal agency in charge of gun control – said that in his opinion the community was not ready for mass ownership of firearms. The official then promised to tighten controls over possession and turnover of guns, including those that fire irritants and non-lethal rubber bullets according to RT.com.”

Who decides who can and who cannot have a permit?

Good question. I haven't tried to obtain one, but my understanding is that licensure is in stages. First, they give you a permit to buy a gun that only shoots hard rubber bullets (with gunpowder though, so still pretty dangerous). If you manage to own this for either one or two years (I forget the exact interval now) without doing something stupid, they upgrade your license to allow real bullets.

As an American who is radically against gun control, this system seems overly restrictive, but the fact of the matter is 1) as European systems go, this one is rather permissive, and 2) living here and knowing the kind of stupid stuff Russians do when insanely drunk, I guess I can see the point a little.

Why do you think the Russians could be on the right track by prohibiting weapons that shoot in bursts or have more than a 10 round capacity?

In answer to your question, IMO it goes back to securing the 2nd Amendment. There should be NO INFRINGEMENT!! Once started, they will keep chipping away until we are restricted to sling shots and knives. We do not need a full auto AK or AR to hunt deer, but we they are real nice gadgets to have in case the likes of Hitlery get in power.

It’s not about guns, its about our culture drifting ever leftwards creating more criminals, school shooting nut jobs and violent gangs. This alone is reason to own something with a little firepower.

On the other hand, ex-KGB and ex-Spetsnaz troops enforce the mob with just about everything in the Soviet arsenal.

You are really asking that here?

Why do I “need” a firearm? It doesn’t matter. I CAN own a firearm.

Good. I personally do not own a gun because I don’t live in a high crime area. If I did, yes I would own a gun. As far as owning a full auto weapon they should only be in the hands of responsible people with proper training, proper background investigation, and with follow up checks. A limit should also be placed on the number of guns that one may own unless you are a collector or dealer.

"Maybe the Russians are on the right track. Do we need these type of guns and if so, for WHAT PURPOSE ?"

To have a nation of people who are more prepared to defend their country if needed. Older Americans, as long as each is competent, can participate by being trained and helping to train younger people. Our Second Amendment right also makes more people in the United States more understanding and amenable to national defense and the needs of our armed forces. A strong defense is necessary for more peace between nations.

Our Second Amendment right is also our gauge of the health of U.S. society. When I was a child in the 1960s, most Americans in rural areas and suburbs owned firearms but would *not* think of using them against their neighbors. Most of the rare murders involving firearms involved drunkenness back then. Violent crime was higher in our largest urban areas, especially drug-ridden urban areas with many people newly arrived from other countries.

If local enforcement were used to separate drug users and drunks from firearms only until each is clean and drug free for some reasonable period, our problem with murders will be mostly solved. Federal laws of the same kind would *not* be helpful, because federal government tends to want to bar people from possessing firearms for the rest of their lives with no reasonable remedy for recovering their right. That kind of policy on the federal level can have the deleterious effects of lowering national morale, provoking more distrust and exacerbating problems with addictions.

If you want more open policy discussion, there it is. It can be used to help own's own nation. If knowledge of it is used in attempts to harm another nation, though, such efforts will backfire.

We've found that more than ever, inquiring people of many generations of U.S. heritage discern more of what's really being done than donors and agents of dishonest convincing political speech realize. People of such heritage in the U.S.A. tend to be inhibited and slow about stepping in to get involved, but we do tend to surprise enemies of freedom in the most dire times of need.

One thing that we have learned in recent times, is that foreign populations that are addicted to empire (communism, fascism, monarchy: more centralized government) and feel safer with empire will take some time to adapt to having and loving more freedoms and being more kind and fair to their own countrymen.

It's true that we Americans have taken a tangent away from traditional morality for nearly 50 years, but human beings always return to what is more natural and what works better for them (G-d, family, country, and in that order).

Each of the more notorious of the recent mass murderers were affluent or in affluent families and suburbs. There were indications that each of them were rather spoiled and lacking in parental strictness. Each was known to be extremely apathetic towards others and on psychoactive drugs known to make some patients impulsive and violent at times. Each of them were lacking in fatherly influence.

Several of the other mass murderers had the minds of foreign enemies. At least two of those people of foreign terrorist persuasion were employed by government offices, and at least one of the two was a county government official in California.

In Russia, law enforcement is a federal matter. In the 2012 reform, police were made a federal body, funded out of the federal budget.

Gun laws in Russia are looser than in Europe but stricter than in the US. You need a license from the police to own guns and rifles.

And there’s also the black market. Russian authorities recognize gun control in the form of an absolute ban, is impossible.

And if people want to commit murder, no law will stop them.
