Since the early 80s, Star Wars fans have ranked among pop cultures most ardent, voluble, and, in all the most classical modes of the term, geeky movie devotees. They recite chapter and verse of the stilted dialogue; they inveigh against the very existence of Ewoks with an irrational rage; they nod in solemn agreement that Han not Greedo shot first; they name their children Anakin and Leia and even Arturito (as R2D2 is known in several Latin American countries).
But increasingly, Star Wars fans are also known to rain down righteous scorn whenever confronted by a perceived affront to their cherished IP. To wit: the recent backlash against The Last Jedi for being too jokey, for Luke Skywalker being insufficiently Obi-Wan Kenobi-ish, and for straying too far from the franchises established tone, even while the film received no small number of critical raves. The upshot: The Last Jedi got the lowest Rotten Tomatoes audience score of any movie in the series and, taking in $1.3 billion in global box-office receipts, came up about $200 million short of financial analysts predictions.

Well, regarding messing Han up, I’d say The Force Awakens definitely screwed him up there, him and Leia, by essentially making them out to be bad parents and having Han relapse to his smuggling duties.
Rogue One was definitely good (too bad I couldn’t root for the Rebels anymore, not after I learned, or rather, verified that Lucas based the Rebels on the Vietcong and made America out to be the bad guys in the form of the Empire.), probably one of the few things in Disney’s lineup for the franchise that was actually DECENT (darn shame it’s not part of Legends, though...).
“Say contact with Star Trek vessels”
Puh-leeease! Star Trek is set in the FUTURE. The Star Wars saga was set “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away”.
If you’re going to pretend to be a nerd, at least TRY not to look like a noob...
B^)
“Han did not shoot “first”. Han was the only one who shot at all. Greedo just sat there and died. “
There is the correct answer - thank you!
Time is relative.
“Time is relative.”
So that’s how it going to be? 8^)
For whom were these words meant: a long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...
Fan service - Awesome!

Good point. Better yet...these fans clamoring for sw to be this or that...why dont the fans write their own versions? You can have it as you want...will cost time and about a dime. Cant be that bored or useless to worry about what marketers and propagandists can massage onto a screen.
nerds
Wormholes....didnt st go into the future and the past before?.Why not make sw go to the future...st go to the past and they meet in 1933 and all protagonists take sides in usa vs russia vs germany vs japan? Wouldnt that be more interesting than the kindergarten plots and clipped dialogue and cheesy cgi? I mean have fun instead of the crapola being sprayed on the money spending sheeple.
The Ron Howard trailer shows Chewbacca and Han Solo walking down to the lake carrying fishing poles and Solo throwing a rock into the lake.
They politicized the franchise. They vaginized it needlessly too. Gravity doesn’t work in space (dropping bombs from slow moving bombers onto star destroyers), et. al.
It was a horrible film, from start to finish. The story didn’t make sense, and the physics was so bad you couldn’t suspend disbelief (Leia’s body should have exploded once it left the ship.) The ‘mary poppins’ thing was too much.
Are you joking?
And probably enjoying it more than the fans. I should check those efforts out.
Seem to be a lot of opinions about a movie that no one has seen yet.
It is true... really. Ask Opie.
If they go over to the darkside.
Ron Howards on cleanup duty. They fired the original directors and brought him in to finish it.
