I don't see a thread for Olympic kvetching, so let's have one!
My first complaint: C'mon, what we're watching tonight already happened this morning, so, commercials that go over an ice pairs performance? Really? The other night it was the Israel men's skater, tonite it's the French pairs. Ridiculous!
Second complaint:We all know we're being spoon fed, right? I mean, they show the popular stuff in primetime, when they could very easily show it during the actual run time. I don't mind the 14-hour time difference.
Comments: Oooh, almost had a major wardrobe malfunction, and it happened right at the 3rd twizzle! How unfortunate. You'd think, for the Olympics, someone's mom would have made extra certain all the straps were double secure.
Snowboarding...Woo Hoo!! My grandson had to spend the weekend in the hospital after a crash 3 weeks ago on his board...but we both watched it. Getting ideas how to set up some new jumps...we'll probably have to hide them at my house so his mom doesn't freak out (don't worry, I am going to MAKE him wear his full-face helmet- one of his injuries was breaking his eye socket and 2 ribs)
Ice skating- the commentators mentioned something about if your toe-pick touches the ice on some element, bad scores. Uh, ok? I've only owned 3 pairs of skates (one for every 20 years) and the last pair I bought was really giving me trouble. I just kept tripping! So I did some problem solving, and looked at my old skates. The old skates did not have toe picks!! I don't know if they were made that way or my husband shaved them off, and maybe my dad did on my first pair? I don't think so. Anyway, I went to the local "this is where everyone gets their gear professionally maintained (they know that the blade has two edges!) and told them to take off the first toe-pick. The tech, a guy about my age, thought I was crazy until I told him I'm paying for this, these picks are gonna kill me, and I learned to skate with no picks. He did it, I went to the local outside rink and spent a couple hours falling down and sailing. So, what about you? Do YOU have all your toe-picks?

I am as done with the Olympics as I am with the NFL.
I hope our shooting and hockey teams do well, but I have no interest in following it.

Actually, from a still that I saw, it looks like he may have ‘dialed it back’ a bit from the last Olympics.

Re: ice dancing: I’d rather watch figure skating, I like the jumps and lifts. The downhill is supposed to be on tonight, but knowing NBC, I’ll probably have to stay up until midnight to catch it.
Just glad there is college basketball on TV.

Any subjectively scored event...ice dancing, figure skating, snowboarding, etc.....shouldn’t be in the Olympics. Medals shouldn’t be awarded according to the whims of judges.
I am going to root against Lindsay Vonn. Just because.

I may have missed it, what was the score for the Summo Ice Dancer that does the Flying Dutchman and finishes with the Baby Bird ?
I think the figure skaters/dancers should also be graded on their costumes. Some of the costumes are hideous and/or ridiculous.
Points should be deducted for men’s excessively sweaty armpits and also for women’s armpits with five o’clock shadows(wax, your armpits, ladies).
