Are you doing research for an Opus Dossier?
Can you rephrase your primary point in one concise sentence?
I never thought FR was about the scoop so much as expert armchair analysis of the scoop - especially calling out the BS of some “scoops”.
Anyone using the term ‘Friday cat’ is unqualified to post anything (except maybe a pun).
Check homepage Jims Mission Statement.
I tend to comment on posts I am interested in. Also I see a small percentage of the posts on FR. I will try to go directly to your page and respond to you if I think I can add anything.
FR has changed since I first discovered it in 2000. We were younger, more energetic, more likely to “hit the streets”.
I think we are just plain older.
IMHO, there is a lot to take in and digest. Some of it is fakery, some of it on the up and up. It takes time to weed through it all.
WRT Q-anon his posts are cryptic and very difficult to follow, so I leave that to others. Sundance is excellent and there is not much to be said after his posts at CTH.
“So I ask who are we? Our purpose is?”
I’m Brooklyn Attitude. My purpose here is mostly to pick up chicks, and the free beer.
This is where I come to really go through the days news (something besides Q and conspiracy theories).
There is a collective "we" but if one is wondering what we're all about instead of taking personal action, then one is wasting one's time - waiting for someone to organize a march or other such activity will result in a lot of waiting - especially since so many would not follow because of "personal inconveniences".
Want some solid action? Get off thy arse and take some solid action....
Q posts just overcame a good reason to be dismayed about posting on FR. Mods realized the Q posts were being spammed by Trolls and did something about it, deleting every single neggie post in the thread. This helped the convo immeasurably.
I post Greenfield blogs (yes, blogs) several times a week. It is always a great resource for discussion. These threads suffer little from trolls.
The great debates about war and peace, abortion, taxes, SJW, and so forth have been thoroughly delved. The time has come for action. That is precisely where we are, action. We have a president who seems bent on “doing something about it.”
Q provides a forum for discussion of the more hidden aspects of the administration’s activities. Whether or not Q is a real person is irrelevant. What is gathering momentum is citizens grappling with the deeper aspects of our history as it unfolds.
I look for the Q threads and more like them to become the battle grounds for the kind of research and intelligent convo FR has been known for. CTH has coopted the high ground but FR cannot be far behind. We have the resources and the passion without the sycophantile pandering of cult worship. Sundance is absolutely brilliant and much of the convo is on target and in depth.
With the advent of Trump I fear we are entering a phase of hero worship that can easily derail the dignity of free men and women directing the course of our nation. We need men like Trump, many, many more men and women like Trump. Let other, younger patriots be inspired to stand on his shoulders.
I have gone afield but you get my drift, I am certain.
I’ve been on “social media” since the BBS days.
Every social media site goes thru the same basic social dynamic life cycle. You’re noticing the natural decline in signal-to-noise ratio. Trolls & arguers & low-content posters increase over time, driving out high-quality posters & content.
It’s just the way of social media life. There’s no “solution” any more than there is a solution to “aging”.
Hmmmm...interesting observations. I’m going to ponder for awhile. I have noticed a change, too. Been on here since 1998 under...5? differnet names.
There do seem to be a lot more religious caucuses and posts, lots more. I ignore them. That’s probably 1/5 of posts lately. And there seem to now be “factions,” that weren’t as prevalous (or vehement) as in the past. I mean anger if you disagree. Calling freepers “trolls,” etc.
Combined with a wider array of conservative non-religious quality sites out there now, I, for one, don’t freep as often.
Tell ya something else I know: Jimrob has very thick skin, and welcomes thoughtful observations on his board. He knows freepers usually work it out. Almost like group consensus magic sometimes.
1. Anything with people in complex groups and a complex context will change--seriously change--routinely. It's part of being human and part of reality involving humans as individuals and in groups. It is unavoidable.
2. For such a group as FR, it is vital to manage the changes within the boundaries of our shared foundational patriotic, Constitutional and spiritual values. MOSTLY, I think FR, JR and the rest of us manage that tolerably well. There are ebbs and flows but mostly, we stay within those boundaries. If we get too far toward one extreme or another, the rest of us drag us back toward the center of our values and goals, imho.
3. The Q-Anon stuff is incredibly complex. Many FREEPERS are still quite skeptical. Many are on the fence. Many are convinced. But even those of us convinced of the authenticity of Q-Anon being very close to POTUS TRUMP can only manage a cursory, fuzzy grasp of a lot of mostly fuzzy puzzle pieces involved in an extremely complex context and extremely complex components. There is certainly more than enough room to have different perspectives on a huge iceberg that is, so far, showing only the tiniest tip to the public.
4. So, in a lot of respects, your assertion that FR hasn't had many threads about new substantive issues, facts and forces about our Republic and our foundational Constitutional values--that assertion is not very accurate. There HAVE been quite a number of such threads over the last month or so. True, a lot of trolls have plagued them and bogged them down etc. Nevertheless, a lot of facts have gotten out and a lot of individual Freepers have taken more of the red pill.
5. May people are still quite skeptical and in a wait and see stance. That's understandable. It remains to be seen when sufficient 'proof' will surface enough publicly for the bulk of those people to become convinced. Those of us who have studied the Q-Anon stuff a long time are more than convinced of the validity of such sources and puzzle pieces. And, we have been active in supporting POTUS with tweets such as #ReleaseTheMemo etc. That has evidently been helpful toward convincing tolerably patriotic congress critters to act in patriotic ways--e.g. with regard to such memos etc.
6. Sooooo, not only have we had a good number of threads about such topics, we have fostered, encouraged, participated in traditional FREEPER ACTIVISM in behalf of patriotic deeds on the part of congress critters in D.C. And there's evidence that POTUS TRUMP or his assistants have thanked citizens for such helpfulness. Q-Anon has repeatedly noted the need for such citizen support and activism.
7. That NEED is likely going to intensify as the startling facts of horrific child sex abuse, sacrifice and brazen treason are brought more and more into public consciousness toward emphatic bringing of such to justice and punishment. Ditto for the wealth confiscation of such perpetrators.
8. Also, if you think there is a dearth of significant new posts fostering more red pilling, fitting patriotic activism etc. ... by all means, post some yourself!
9. Some of us were encouraged that my own rare thread asking for collaboration and support toward increasing, building more deliberate and coordinated support of POTUS TRUMP in such efforts--that thread has been mercifully troll free--whether because of helpful mods or the trolls simply staying away. AND, the members responding have been constructive and helpful with their suggestions toward activism. And, I've received FREEPMAILS noting that a lot of organized FREEPER ACTIVISM responses are building quietly out of the public eye.
10. In short, I think the picture on FR is a lot more robust and positive, encouraging than you seem to be aware of. If there are gaps in that picture, please help fill-in the gaps.
Thanks that you cared enough to speak up. That's a ton better than passivity.
Are you breaking up with me?
It’s okay if you are ..just admit it.
Yep, you’re breaking up with me.
I am getting a lot of info from friends who hear about things on Facecrook long before it hits our radar.
Also, we are down one poster in “2ndDivisionVet”, who was rather prolific...
I was off the internet for many years. When I retired and again had time to look for conservative web sites I found that most of the old ones had gone establishment.
I happened upon Free Republic by accident and found just what I was looking for. Informed discussion of events and ideas.
I have never run across a group of people as highly educated, as well travelled and as open to discussion as here.
I’ve disagreed with posters on one subject and agreed with them on another, on the same day.
Not many places you find that on the net.
There are Purity Police too many places. The closest we have to that is humblegunner who just hates blogs and fills his days complaining about them.
The Great Purge of 2015-2016 saw many posters get the Zot for being vehemently against Donald Trump.
The discussions were lively, heated even, and when it became too bad posters were banished. Sad but needed.
The increase in religious posts is because like the world in general we are getting older.
When one gets older they tend to pay more attention to where their souls will spend eternity.
Plain and simple.
Don’t despair, there are natural cycles and they extend even here.
