The opening ceremonies haven't been held, but figure skating started today!
Mr. RooRoo is semi-suicidal, he HATES figure skating.
All snarky color commentators, please weigh in!!!!
I'll throw out the first pitch: The second male skater (from Germany I believe) chose a HORRIBLE costume, he had big yucky armpit sweat stains, it was hard to focus on anything else.
I love that SNL skit. “Blades of Glory” was very good also.
Curling is like bowling without bitching to the pin boy about the oil on the lanes LOL
LOL! I assume those are room temp cats?!
If you’ve Android, you can download their TV app for free and watch online.
How about real bobsled racing?
Make the track wider and have four go at a time.
Can we agree the summer olympics suck ***?

Above is a really good article on Mikaela Shiffrin, a young American gal that is really doing well. The article goes indepth into her training, etc. Amazing how focused she is.
I disagree I scan the olympics and scan to the 15 minutes of real action. LOL
The Downhill is my absolute favorite event. I’ll never forget watching Franz Klammer’s gold medal run, he was on the razor’s edge of disaster the entire time. Best downhill ever!
According to Johnny Weir, Nathan Chen’s routine was “disastrous.” Tara Lupinski just said “disastrous” also. Nathan is the youngest member of the US team.
Anyway, it sneaks up on you and before you know it, it is gone.
Logan airport 1980. I'm working there at a restaurant. Correct? Yes, correct. Hockey players heading to Lake Placid. How was I to know that these hockey players would bring home a gold medal? But they did. Mike Eruzione and Dave Silk. Don't remember Jim Craig but he might have been there as well. I served them coffee and pastries before their flight out there. Also, I picked up their dirty dishes and brought them to the dishwasher. Crazy, right? I was just 17 years old. A few months later, I would be at Parris Island in Marine Corps boot camp.
That's my all-time favorite Olympic memory, still get chills when I watch it.
It’s more like Big Marbles.
My favorite W.O. remembrance - I was 10 in 1980 and in bed with a bad case of chicken pox so my parents’ black and white antenna TV was wheeled into my room and I watched nonstop Olympics. I learned all about hockey. I named my Barbie doll “Mrs. Eruzione” after the US/USSR game (before that she had been Laura Ingalls).
My favorites though are the ski jump and biathalon.
I’ve heard about the ‘dead cat bounce’ but hadn’t actually seen one til now .. LOL
Eric Heiden’s performance in 1980 is still the single-greatest overall performance of any Olympic athlete.
Russians wiped out.
They usually world class quality and Kolyada performed sub par.
Team Israel in first place.
Great story about the “Miracle on Ice” US hockey team.
I’m Apple and I have about 4 NBC apps! No real cable here, so I do a few work around.
Why the hell did we have to miss the Israeli skater? It looks like he may have the only clean program. Poor Nathan!
I remember Eric Heiden!! He did the equivalent of winning the 100 meter dash and the marathon (winning several other distances in between). I never paid attention to long track speed skating until Eric Heiden came along.
