Probably the most famous of all the Pillsbury Bake Off recipes is the Tunnel of Fudge Cake', which was one of the winners in the 1966 contest. This cake also led to a boom in sales for the Nordic Ware Bundt pan, which then became the most popular and most-sold baking pan in the US.
(Ella Helfrichs cake was actually the second prize winner that year; the grand prize appears to have gone to Mari Petrellis Golden Gate Snack Bread, a savory cheese bread.)
The original recipe for Tunnel of Fudge used a packaged Double Dutch frosting mix which Pillsbury later discontinued, but here is the new recipe, using a cocoa powder glaze (a cake like this will only be as good as the cocoa used, so I'd be interested in hearing your brand suggestions for that ingredient):

I was going to lay some beads around it, too.
You are really supposed to spray that irridescent gloss (over white glaze) with an air brush, but I read the nozzles get clogged and didn't want to invest in one. That's what the vodka is for, to keep the nozzle from clogging.
I’d probably be lousy at that unless I really practiced - don’t have the greatest hand-eye coordination.
Inhaling air-brushed dye vapor makes for vibrantly colorful kleenex. Know this for a fact.
My favorite Ghirardelli recipe:
Cook some Jell-O Cook & Serve Chocolate Pudding.
While still hot throw in a bag of Ghirardelli 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate chips. Stir and cool.
Serve with raspberry sauce and whip cream.
Heaven!
(Um, I have a tendency not to share this when I make it. My bad.)
After eating an overly salty spinach salad I am ready for a piece of that gorgeous cake. I’m putting whipped cream on it too ; )
This looks delicious & easy. Could I substitute real whipped cream for the cool whip?
Those sound yummy!
I made a Chocolate Lover’s Cheesecake for a company get together one time and it used the Oreo cookie crumbs (with the filling scraped off) as the crust. It looks very, very dark and I noticed people taking slices but leaving the crust. They thought it was BURNT!
The recipe for that cake says that you shouldn’t skimp on the nuts or else the whole thing won’t ‘work’; I’m trying to figure that out. Do the nuts ‘sink’ and that somehow helps create the fudge-y center?
It makes you wonder if the original recipe may have been a happy fluke...
Well, this was definitely a store-bought Hershey product; but I’ll show yours to him in the morning. Thanks!
My mom uses baker’s joy, so I bought a can. It is amazing stuff!
I use it for all my baking. I usually spray it on the pan over the sink, though, to keep from having the spray go all over the counters and floor.
I hate to admit this, but we live close enough to the whole New Orleans spirit that the town has lots of Mardis Gras parties. I had King Cake & thought it was like a not very good coffee cake that had dried out. And the colors, yuck. And people pay big bucks for the monstrosities. And get off my lawn..... ; )
Yum, German chocolate is my favorite!
My daughter and I loved that movie.
I used to use chap stick on my kids burns, healing scabs, etc.
My daughter would moan,,, “Oh Mom, Chapstick is your Windex!”
Grew up in the Chicago area. My mom’s folks are Eastern European. They loved garlic and they loved lamb.
Every Sunday in the summer (or at least it seemed that way) we would go to a Greek picnic. It wasn’t until I was in the 2nd grade that I figured out that not every American went to Greek picnics on Sundays in the summer!
My Grandpa had a lamb roasting pit in his back yard and he taught me how to baste the lamb with olive oil and garlic and what to pay attention to as it was roasting. My Grandma taught me how to make egg noodles from scratch. She would get out her “noodle cloth” that she would place on her dining room table and roll the dough out and slice the dough into noodles. Then we would hang them out on her enclosed back porch. She would store them in left over Quaker Oats tubes. She had dozens of those boxes. Spent many hours in her kitchen cooking with her.
Someday gotta figure out her white layer, green layer jello mold.
My love for cooking appears to be genetic!
If you have a self-cleaning oven, be careful with that. Youll probably be using your warranty again :-) good thing you have one! The KitchenAids have an issue where they get so hot they burn up their digital display components. Apparently they didnt put enough insulation between the oven and the display. Ive burned one up once. Then hubby figured out how to stop it from getting so hot, but I have no clue how we did that. Hes pretty amazing. The tech that came out said its a known feature and they cant fix it. They are just recommending that people not use their self-cleaning cycle. I personally think they should give us our money back or replace the range. Needless to say when we moved I didnt get another KitchenAid. Although their appliances are beautiful.
It just doesnt look appetizing. Let me know how it is
The best dishwasher I ever had was a KitchenAid.
.
I bought Bakers Joy when I bought some little bundt pans that make a cute little Christmas village. Those things pop right out.
