The star of “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” and “The Mask” said on Twitter on Tuesday that he’s dumping his Facebook stock and deleting his page because the social media giant profited from Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election via spreading false news with Russian origins, and says the company is still not doing enough to stop it.

The 56-year-old Carrey encouraged other investors and users to do the same. He ended his tweet with the hashtag “unfriendfacebook.”

He didn’t know it at the time but as the character Ace Ventura, Jim Carrey had the Obama ‘cool jerk-strut’ down pat.

Or they’re just projecting their own issues. The Dems are the real Russia copycats.

Putin’s Russia is in turmoil today because of Russia’s failure to confront the horrors of their past. Stalin is considered a hero for precisely the reasons you gave; defeating Nazis.

But he unleashed more hell on Russia than Nazi Germny did to the world in their entire tenure. And Russians today are paying the price for attempting to rewrite the narrative and leave out the bad parts. History’s ghosts have a way of catching up.

The country’s in a state of moral flux (as is much of Europe, but especially there) and its discomfort is spilling over everywhere not just American politics. And Putin’s state will be unravelling in the next few years, so sit tight.

I’d say he’s moved on to snorting Tide Pods, to clean up his act.

Recall that as Russians took down statues to Stalin, Leftards in America wanted to embrace and preserve them.

When will celebrities understand we don't value their opinion any more than any other stranger's?

Right move, exactly the wrong reasons.

Yes, I agree with him, that the Ruskies probably DID try to interfere with the election, but they didn’t help Hildebeast much. She still lost. 👍

Heck the FBI/DOJ/CIA/State didn’t do much better.

They call us rednecks or hillbillies or whatever.

Makes me LOL.

Well, Fakebook just killed off my remaining bogus entity, so I am joining Jim and boycotting Fakebook.

What a just outcome, if Fakebook is yet another casualty of the Trump election victory - and Democrats attempt to cast blame, instead of taking responsibility.

The Curse of Trump !

MAGA !

That must have been before Putin then, because when I was there recently...and the exact opposite is true. And every self-respecting historian and sociologist of modern Russia backs me up. The rehabilitation of Stalin’s memory is one of the defining points of post-Soviet Russia’s and Russian people’s quest for national identity following the trauma of the USSR collapse.

Statues, busts, and portraits are en vogue again and reflective of the justifying of his legacy overall. As though WWII victory and his repressions come as a sort of necessary “package.”

Also, last week Russia banned the British film by Armando Iannuci “Death of Stalin” due to ideological concerns. The decision’s received a lot of attention. The movie will show in the states in March i believe.

A city devastated by the Gulag, just yesterday announced a lawsuit challenging the Kremlin’s ban on screening the film.

Quote:
Human rights activists in Syktyvkar have filed a lawsuit challenging the Culture Ministry’s decision to revoke the distribution license for Armando Iannucci’s new comedy “The Death of Stalin.”

The activists argue that the government’s decision violates the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 44 of the Russian Constitution (which guarantees artistic freedom and participation in cultural life, and requires the preservation of historical heritage). Their lawsuit also states that Russia’s authorities illegally withdrew the film’s license

Yes recently there has been a push on to preserve Stalin in Russia by Stalinist loyalists.

In the 1990s statues were torn down, melted down, sold for scrap, and sold to Seattle.

Stalinist loyalists are no longer a minority after 20 years of Vladimir Putin. And this video of two historians debating his legacy went viral last week.

It got physical.

IDIOTS!

I read somewhere maybe Russia paid $200,000 in Facebook ads

If you can influence an Election with that little sum of $$$, what happens if every damn Billionaire put in $1 million in ads? LOL

When your opponent is making a series of mistakes and errors, do not try to stop him. But do not count on continued aeries of errors and mistakes, either. Sometimes it is necessary to step up and deliver a telling blow from time to time.

I deleted my Facebook account when it became clear they were silencing conservative voices. Let this be a lesson to Facebook. When you play patty-cake with leftists, eventually will turn on you.

What I find surprising is that so many supposedly conservative webpages still use Facebook logins to run their comment sections. If they think that “Also Post to Facebook” button leads anywhere, they are deluding themselves.
