Need PC help combining pictures with music.

Posted on 02/06/2018 4:13:15 PM PST by Dacula

I lost my wife to cancer last year and want to celebrate her life with a video\music presentation.

I have 100s of photos and have the music enjoyed listening to my play for her.

What is the best way to combine pictures with music on a PC?

Your help would be appreciated.

My experience in recent years has been with Animoto. Very user-friendly. For a small fee, you can do up really nice slide shows. Upload your photos, move them into the order you like, upload your music, and the program will automatically time your photos to the music you select. You can add titles upfront and at the end. Did this for my Mom’s “Forever Young” 80th birthday celebration last fall. The song is about 4 minutes long, and I uploaded tons of photos with her in each one. Was able to sort them as best I could based on the age, approximate dates, etc. It all timed out perfectly with the music. Was able to save and send the link to all the family to enjoy. If you decide on Animoto, contact me by private message if I can be of help in any way.

iPhoto has that feature on my imac. I made a nice one of our family at Christmas one year, had some effects of photos zooming in and out (attractively), choices of transitioning from one to the next, etc. The music I used one I liked that came OEM on my imac, not from the apple store. But youtube said I had to change to one of theirs. So I got mad and took it down.

I think some people buy the music as mp or whatever on amazon and give credits in their description, but I wouldn't count on somebody not making a fuss even then.

If any program isn't intuitive, I don't do it. I just clicked around until I had what I wanted. I was used to processing photos in Photoshop and made a lot of my own graphics, what was it? Paint Shop Pro?

I found a nice on of a relative I had remembered meeting as a little girl and always wondered what happened to her. Sadly I found out too late. But the funeral home made a nice video presentation for them. It's on youtube.

It's really beautifully done, gives the name of the funeral home in the opening.

Sorry on the loss of your wife, may she rest in peace and the two of you be together again in a better place.

I’m so very sorry, Mike. I’m so glad you were able to cherish her for so long, and that the two of you created something special in that wonderful grandchild of yours.

I have done this for a number of memorial services. As other’s have said there are so many programs out there that you might already have one on your computer. Here is one of the first that I did. It was done with a program called Ulead Video Studio 6 which came free with an old laptop. With Ulead and many other similar programs you pick the music you want and add the pictures. The program does “random” movement and zooming in and out depending on the settings that you pick.

The programs give you varying amounts of control over the movement etc.

Ping received, Daffy. Thank you.

I’m so very sorry, Dracula. That’s a loss that never heals.

I looked at the MovieMaker program video that was put up for you, and it sounds like just what you are looking for. It looks simple to use and the good comments about it means that it has worked successfully for the many who’ve tried it.

My digital editing is on platforms that you probably wouldn’t use, Avid and Premier, so my advice is not as useful as that of the other good people who have been making suggestions here. But if there is anything I can do to help, please ask.

My name is Mary. Mairdie was the way my beloved niece mispronounced my name when she was tiny. I use the name because it always reminds me of my love for her.

Best, Mary

Sorry to hear about your great loss. I think a music presentation is a fine way to commemorate your bride.

The only program you really need is PowerPoint.

On YouTube check out instruction videos on the subject:adding music background to PowerPoint.

I used MovieMaker as well for my mom’s funeral. I had helped my kids with school projects a couple of times so I knew just enough - it was pretty simple once you got a few things figured out. Always a learning curve.

I had different music for different stages of her life, and for music that fit that time period and what I thought she might have listened to.

The first few phases I had to work quite a bit to trim the songs to make the transitions the way I wanted them. The last section was of her last few months with family and friend’s.

The second to last photo was of her just 4 days before she died, sitting in her favorite chair, trying to finish up a blanket for the last grandchild. The last photo I had was of a white lily she had received, and I put a black shirt behind it so it would stand out, then fade to black with her favorite Bible verse, which then also faded out.

It was the night before the funeral and it was late, and I was dreading editing the last song to fit the last photos. I ran the video. The Bible verse faded out - and the song faded out at the exact same time - no editing on my part!

The entire process was very cathartic.

The last song was Frank Sinatra’s “Moonlight Serenade”. She had outlived my dad and all her friends. But her True Love was there to open the Pearly Gates and take her home.

“So don’t let me wait, come to me tenderly in the June night. I stand at your gate and I sing you a song in the moonlight A love song, my darling, a Moonlight Serenade...”

I have heard positive opinions about Pro-Show Gold, a slide program.

If your computer happens to be a Mac of recent vintage, it has IMovie, which is relatively easy to learn.

I use Microsoft Movie Maker. You just grab your music on the software than add pictures. I’ve done several and it works really well. it is also free.

I always find it helps to size the pictures so there are the same too, which does make the task more laborious, but the final result looks nicer. 8>)
