Chemical found in McDonald's fries could cure baldness, researchers say

A chemical found in McDonald’s chips could cure baldness, new research suggests.

Scientists in Japan found that a chemical used to cook the fast food giant's fries helped to cure hair loss in mice and are hopeful it could do the same in humans.

Using a chemical called dimethylpolysiloxane found in silicone which is added to oil to cook fries researchers were able to produce follicles which could sprout human hair.

Silcone is usually added to fries to prevent the oil bubbling and spitting.

When the cells were cultured in the cooking aid they grew 5000 hair follicle germs simultaneously, scientists said.

The follicle germs were then transplanted into bald mice that began to sprout fur within days.

Scientists say that preliminary tests suggest that the technique could work in humans.

Researchers said that the reason the chemical was so effective in encouraging hair growth was due to the fact that oxygen easily passes through it.

“We demonstrated that the integrity of the oxygen supply through the bottom of the silicone chip was crucial to enabling both HFG formation and subsequent hair shaft generation,” Prof Junji Fukuda, of Yokohama National University told The Mirror.

Scientists hope that the discovery will eventually be able to be used to treat hair loss diseases.

"This simple method is very robust and promising. We hope this technique will improve regenerative therapy to treat hair loss such as androgenic alopecia," Prof Junji Fukuda said.

honestly, I don’t care about hair at all. Even when I had it, I wasn’t the sort of guy who spent any time at all on my hair.

Shaving my head every couple weeks is far easier, but it does get cold once in a while.

Everytime I sit in the chair I point to the ‘fade’ or ‘dreadlocks’ and tell them that is what I want.
(truth be known, when my hair gets ‘wet’ there is hardly enough to do a decent combover....when dry it works. I STILL wear a ball cap though-— I tell people the cap insulates your head..keeps warm in in winter and helps prevent sunburn in summer)

Upon exiting I tell them that if they took that ‘crap’ they rub on the back of your neck and rub it on top they would be rich forever.

(Ever notice when you look at the sides and top you know you don’t need a haircut BUT the back of your neck is growing like a weed farm?)

Who had the original idea of rubbing McDonald’s fries into bald mice?

Maybe people aren’t rubbing enough weird foods into their bodies.

What a blessing that would be for those undergoing chemo and radiation for cancer! One of the many bad side effects of treatment is hair loss.

The keyword in the article. “Chemical” in the fries. Haven’t really had McDonald’s since my daughter got sick off a cheeseburger and that was 5 years ago. Have had coffee and fries a couple of times. I think I’m done with that now thougg.

Latex and latex-related products?

Could you use a latex salesman?

Not quite as successful for Ron Popeil as the Pocket Fisherman was.

You'll need to speak with Art VanDalay.
