Saudi Arabia certainly made more sense (in regards to 9/11) than Iraq did.
That being said, though I thought it possible OBL could be hiding in Saudi Arabia, I’m now thinking he was already inside Pakistan. The idea that he’d wait at Tora Bora for the inevitable response always seemed dubious to me.
We knew Pakistan was running the madrasses that the Taliban easily recruited from. There are more than a few Pakistanis, and I’d say Pak ISI that were sympathetic to OBL’s “cause”.
