Former Mississippi Republican governor Haley Barbour was arrested last week for trying to bring a loaded gun through the airport in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Hattiesburg Patriot broke the story Tuesday, confirming that Barbour was caught by airport police but still boarded his flight after he posted bond for his crime.
The former governor was arrested by airport police, posted bond, and was able to catch his flight.
".38 caliber revolver loaded with five bullets"
Just measured mine. I have a Colt Commando Special, 6 rounds in the cylinder, same configuration as the Colt Detective Special.
You cannot put a .357 shell into a .38-only revolver. the .357 Magnum is much longer and will not fit. Deliberately. Very deliberately.
Which is pretty much what I said in my post #27.
I have lost a lot of respect for Haley.
><
Same here and I’m sure you know more about him than I do.
He just proved he’s as stupid as most of us thought he was.
Sounds right. Never tried.
Just know better...
You got a good point there.
How Barry Switzer of him.
Who does he think he is, Ty Cobb?
I used “bullets” because that was how the idiot reporter put it: “.38 caliber revolver loaded with five bullets”
Wallet, glasses, keys, gun... creature of habit.
Yep. I have zero respect for this clown and his family.
Some keep an empty cylinder under the hammer....not my style but if it is a weapon prone to have an “oopsie” if dropped it might not be a bad idea - doesn’t take any longer to get the first shot off and let’s face it, many of us carry many more rounds than we would ever likely need to use - if I need a full 16 round magazine for my 9mm, it would be a gun battle instead of a case of self defense....if I need the 2nd magazine, it would be a war....
That’s because you cannot fully chamber a 357 Mag in a 38 spl chamber and close the cylinder- the extra long cartridge was made to prevent such a mistake.
The 38 spl, originally a black powder round, operates at around 16000 psi, the 357, designed in the early 30s to penetrate car doors etc, used smokeless powder and operates at ~35000 psi. Modern metallurgy and design changes by SW enabled such a performance jump.
Good catch! I usually notice that, but missed it this time!
