Thursday on ESPNs Pardon the Interruption, co-host Michael Wilbon weighed in on the XFLs comeback in 2020, calling Vince McMahons upcoming league a whitewashed, idealistic brand of football because it will require players to stand for the National Anthem and will not allow athletes with criminal records to play.

Yes, I fail to see the problem. Maybe TV ads will have to be revamped so they’re not 90% brown?
McMahon should start a sports network at the same time.
Panic much, ESPN? The NFL and ESPN deserve to sink together.
This is why I no longer watch NFL games period!
FACTS
In 2012 the NFL had an issue with Tim Tebow kneeling for each game to pray, they also had an issue with Tebow wearing John 3:16 as part of his eyeblack to avoid glare, and made him take it off.
In 2013 the NFL fined Brandon Marshall for wearing green cleats to raise awareness for people with mental health
disorders.
In 2014 Robert Griffin III (RG3) entered a post-game press conference wearing a shirt that said “Know Jesus Know Peace” but was forced to turn it inside out by an NFL uniform inspector before speaking at the podium.
In 2015 DeAngelo Williams was fined for wearing “Find the Cure” eye black for breast cancer awareness..
In 2015 William Gay was fined for wearing purple cleats to raise awareness for domestic violence. (Not that the NFL has a domestic violence problem...)
In 2016 the NFL prevented the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a decal on their helmet in honor of 5 Dallas Police officers killed in the line of duty.
In 2016 the NFL threatened to fine players who wanted to wear cleats to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11.
So tell me again how the NFL supports free speech and expression, all of a sudden...
It seems quite clear based on these facts that the NFL has taken a position against any action by NFL players demonstrating RESPECT for any issue: For God, social causes such as mental health, cancer, domestic violence, for cops killed arbitrarily for being cops, for the Memory of 9/11..
But, they will allow demonstrations of DISRESPECT for our National Flag, our National Anthem, for America, and for the American People, if it will help mollify a particular Group and its supporters (such as BLM, and other leftists)
That is who and what the NFL has shown itself to be.
Dear ESPN,
Will the business enterprise turn a profit? If so, that will be a winner for the ordinary John Q. Public.

Football is a ball game. A game. Not a social justice platform. The Negro Football League has lost its focus one what it is all about. Football.
If someone is such a bigot that everything is measured in terms of skin color and race they need to seek help to deal with their mental illness, not be playing ball games.
You mean they just go out and play football without any politics involved?
That makes me smile.
They believed that they had a monopoly and that their customers were hooked on their product.
They also live in a bubble and so do not understand the majority of their customers.
So they are crashing and burning.
Professional wrestling on the gridiron.
Great entertainment.
You would think a sports station would have a NEWS story about a new sports league starting up...
Not a political hit piece
ESPN and the other SJW mediots are legitimately afraid of the XFL. Lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth. They are losing control of the message.
That’s why I love Michael Jordan. He said “Republicans buy shoes too.” All other athletes should follow his lead.
And the problem with that is what?
“Using the term Whitewashed negatively is racist.”
Absolutely. That’s very niggardly of him.
Hubris Strikes Again.
Im hoping McMahon can create a legitimate minor league through the XFL that will give an opportunity for 18, 19 year olds who dont want to pretend to be a college student an opportunity to play for pay.
If he can do that and keep the minor league funded it will be revolutionary! (Within 5 years the old NFL will be trying to force a merger.)
He needs to drop the whole “Xtreme” idea meaning do nothing to make the sport more dangerous just play good apolitical football. The key will be TV contracts.
That means I will watch it.
