CBS picked up six pilots for the 2018-2019 season, including reboots of Cagney and Lacey and Magnum P.I.
Magnum P.I. is described as an updated version of the original series that follows Thomas Magnum, a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home to Hawaii from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. Tom Selleck played the mustachioed Magnum in the original series.
Peter Lenkov, the writer and producer behind current CBS reboots of Hawaii Five-O and MacGyver, will serve as the writer and executive producer on the new version of the classic 1980s series, which had previously gotten a pilot production commitment at the network. Eric Guggenheim, an executive producer and writer on Lenkovs Hawaii Five-O, will also write and executive produce. John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment will also executive produce. CBS Television Studios will co-produce with Universal Television.
Cagney and Lacey will follow the titular female police detectives and friends as they keep the streets of L.A. safe. Bridget Carpenter will serve as writer and executive producer. CBS Television Studios will produce with MGM Television.
Carpenter, who is under an overall deal at CBS Television Studios, recently worked as a consulting producer on HBOs Westworld and has previously produced and written shows like Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. She also developed the Hulu series 11.22.63.
The original Cagney and Lacey ran for seven seasons and 125 episodes on CBS from 1982 to 1988. The series also spawned four made-for-TV movies in the mid-90s. Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly played the title roles for the vast majority of the series, though Loretta Swit played Cagney in the original two-hour pilot and Meg Foster played Lacey for the first season.

He’s aged like a fine wine!
Speaking of which...my two Army Besties and myself, no matter WHERE we all happened to be in the world at any given time, would always reserve Wednesday evenings for wine, Magnum, P.I., nail polish and laughing together - over the phone if we weren’t all stationed together at the time.
Mr. Selleck will always, ALWAYS have a special place in my heart!
I’m finally watching, ‘Blue Bloods’ and thoroughly enjoying his scowls and sighs as he saves New York City from itself, LOL!
And don’t miss the ‘Jesse Stone’ DVDs. I think Selleck has found himself in, ‘Jesse Stone’ for sure. Excellent viewing, and you can never go wrong with a Robert Parker mystery (the author who dreamed up Jesse in the first place.)
“The new H 5-0 stunk from the first episode.”
complete excrement ...
Those are good.
I like classic TV.
While they’re at it, how about bringing back Simon and Simon. That was my favorite PI show.

Was she ever.
Sledge was priceless.
I have a prop from the show. It’s a poster of Sledge wanted dead or dead.
The producer sold them on Ebay a long time ago for charity.
I have 2/100 and finally framed in my office. People like the poster even if they don’t know what it is really about.
Sledge with the LAWS taking down the building is so funny.
Well if he let himself go naturally gray, you would maybe think he simply aged.
I think I have a nice 8x10 of her from many moons ago in storage.
Captain Trunk was delightfully angry and stressed out too. Not quite CI Dreyfus but he didn’t need to be.
It would be awesome if they brought back the Ramcharger and the K5 Blazer.
Naw, gray would not hurt his looks. What makes you think he would have gray hair? Ronald Reagan didn’t.
Funniest post of the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
That’s a great idea for a channel. I’ll have to check it out.
Even though my K5 is in pieces, I’m keeping it.
Parts, time, health, and it sitting for a long time are the problems.
Tomorrow I plan to get the replacement water pump on. The powder coated chevy orange fan came back today. I detest dirt, grime, rust and the rest and eliminate as best I can.
There is also the heater core and the transmission cooler lines. I broke one taking them loose from the radiator that slated for replacement.
I have some braided steel ones ready to go.
The radiator and front support piece is hopefully in a couple of weeks.

I will have to check out Jesse Stone, although I may have seen the first show. Never missed Magnum, PI. I was proud of the Tiger hat.
I never even saw ONE episode of either of those shows.
.
Reagan dyed his hair, just like Selleck. Really obvious.
Stone and Keller would have never let SF go so far downhill.
It’s not too late for Lance White PI.
He was Rockford’s near perfect competition.
Casting hasn’t been announced yet. I think pilot castings are usually announced January-April.
we are so lucky that there is over 60 years of television to fall back on and watch on line. I recently started to re-watch the old magnum PI shows on amazon prime using there stars channel. we can totally ignore crap and shows that are produced by and have actors where we find there attitudes and politics to be less then desirable. I say lets just boycott crap. I never have to watch a show with Shawn Penn in it or a show that tells me I am stupid because I think global warming is a load of crap.
